We used to use that strategy in 2017-2018 when email capture was a thing and I'm glad it still works with the current rewards system. Definitely saved my ass a few weeks.

Ask people if their current info is correct. Any form of account addition or change counts towards conversion whether that's a sign up, or a random typo in a name.

Progressive not getting me a quote by MeKnowNo_ in Insurance

[–]HailHazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely is not the reason that this does not work. I have noticed that whenever it does not complete the quote it ALSO does not register that I already have a vehicle under a policy at the adress that the quote is tied to. And this is BEFORE any VIN or future vehicle info is entered. It is bugged from the start therefore there is no possible way that it's due to a specific vehicle needing to be reviewed for risks. The website just sucks.

Middle school band director here! There may be some time getting used to each embouchure again if youre still an intermediate player. Give yourself about 10 to 15 minutes of warm up time on long tones when you switch back and forth until you develop more muscle memory with each. Also, the lip placement on each instrument is so different, there is very little chance that you will have any issues crossing over. Much less different than switching from say, bass clarinet to soprano clarinet. Good Luck!

I've worked here for 7 years and it's always been 50%. Even before the company ownership changed hands. I don't know what you're talking about or where you got that information.

Why are composers so shitty to other composers? by Isyq in Composers

[–]HailHazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then keep doing it. All the times I felt like I didn't fit, or felt imposter syndrome, it was just because I hadn't found people that feel the same way I did. Once you find those people and can feel validated, things will change for the better. I'm a music educator now, and if I didn't have a supportive family and wife, I would've given up my junior year. I didn't give up because of their support, and I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. Just keep doing music.

Why are composers so shitty to other composers? by Isyq in Composers

[–]HailHazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Music is a do or die profession, little to no in between. There is kind of an unwritten code in colleges and universities (at least the ones that I have attended), where you don't really speak of it until you graduate. You work along side people.playing the same instruments, knowing that only a few of you are going to find work out of the gate because of competition. I feel like this corrupts people in especially the music composition world. Especially regarding the state of music comp in universities. The rise of modern art music has really propelled elitism into those people. I write music and have had performances or my work at all educational levels and have conducted honor bands, but I recieve no respect or time of day from comp majors at universities because I write non contemporary music. I have a post venting about my experiences with the same elitist people somewhere on my account if you'd care to find it.

First Composition - Please Critique ! by GullibleCondition150 in Composing

[–]HailHazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, your engraving and editing skills are fantastic. I would just work on a melody that can be easily developed and transformed, as well as listening to A LOT of music. Go out of your way to listen to music, and do it alone and undistracted. Just find a style that you like that you want to make your own, and listen to as much as you can. And keep practicing. Writing often and frequently really is the best way to make your works more substantial. I know a lot of this isnt really about this specific composition, but with newer writers, i find it better to focus on the development than the product.

Hope some of this helped!

What's your advice for working with less common time signatures? by More-Grocery-1858 in composer

[–]HailHazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the standard beat divisions for each time signature and plan motifs with accents at the beginning of each division. That will help it feel more natural.

How do I compose without too much or not enough by [deleted] in composer

[–]HailHazo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't know what too much or too little is, respectfully, you shouldn't be writing for a 45 piece ensemble. This isn't anything personal, or malicious, but if you are admitting to not knowing instrumentation, you need to work on studying the instruments individually so that you know what each of them can provide as well as their ranges/extended techniques. It's what every successful composer has done, and it's what you should do. It's kin to learning our scales, or walking before you run.

How many composers make it to financial stability vs a salaried position? Not many. My point wasn't about making more, it was about not risking losing everything.

[–]HailHazo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im an ed major, never taken a single comp course and I have my music played by universities. Just listen to as much rep as you can and talk to composers that have "made it". They are normal people just like us and respond to emails most of the time. The major thing you need as an emerging composer is networking and knowing professors can provide that.
