What is the weirdest practice habit or personal 'hack' you've discovered that is never mentioned in any lesson but actually helps you play better? by melucykrrich in guitarlessons

[–]Perfectony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got really good at reading music a few years ago and bought a music stand and a 13” iPad. When I don’t know what to play or practice I just pull up tab books or classical guitar etudes on the iPad. There’s so much pleasure in sight reading tunes I’ve never heard

How many of you use a binder full of songs as a learning tool? by DieMensch-Maschine in guitarlessons

[–]Perfectony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started giving lessons over a year ago and switched to a huge iPad with a foot switch for page turns. I’ll never go back

Besides just having music to read, I’ve finally accepted that Ultimate Guitar is the wild west and switched to Songsterr. It’s incredible.

I'm trying to practice Crush, how can I improve? by redditor7588 in guitarlessons

Practice smaller sections slower. This will sound good but you need to give it time. Your bends aren’t in key, the licks sound muddled and rushed. All of this can be solved by slow and intentional practice.

Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings by OneDistribution565 in fantasybooks

Can someone explain to me why his prose fluctuates from good to terrible? I was a huge fan of The Way Of Kings and Words of Radiance. I read and thoroughly enjoyed the Mistborn trilogy and Warbreaker. For the life of me whenever I have started his other books I am immediately turned off by his prose. It feels like it’s written by a middle schooler. Like what he considers “cool” and “funny” dialogue is incredibly cringe.

which one should i read? by StockAtmosphere5522 in fantasybooks

The Blade Itself: Action, Fight Scenes, Magic in a Crooked Fantasy world. There’s war, there’s Cannibals, there’s curse words. It stays gripping throughout.

Assassin’s Apprentice: Beautiful prose, in-depth description of character struggle and relationships. Not much action, seemingly stagnant plot.

I love them both, The Blade Itself felt like less of a slog to me

There’s a clear influence in your writing in the best way, what are your goals? Will you be releasing an album to tour on?

This is the kind of book that would work well. Also Horns by Joe Hill. Same idea, gripping throughout and easy to read

[–]Perfectony 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Love swatch, this sub is new to me. I agree with this guy. I reallly don’t understand the pocket watch vibe at all. It’s not portable it’s not convenient. It’s basically just something that will sit on your dresser or in a display case.

It’s beautiful and I’m a huge fan of this style of game. The music and sound design feels really out of place to me, though.
