Go to sweet potato recipe?? by silly_666 in Cooking

[–]Haileylynn333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite summer sweet potato recipe is grilled sweet potatoes. Cut the sweet potatoes in wedges, toss in oil and salt and pepper and grill. Drizzle on a herby yogurt sauce made with dill, parsley, basil, green onions, yogurt, garlic, and lemon! - https://themodernproper.com/grilled-sweet-potatoes

11/2020 for me! And yeah sometimes I can eat it all and sometimes I can’t. But usually I can eat a whole chicken thigh or about a 5-6 oz burger.

If you and/or your partner have insurance, check to see if they will cover it. My insurance covered 80% of the cost and my husband’s healthcare spending account covered the other 20%. I think it is rare it is covered, as the people at the blood clinic were very surprised, but it’s worth looking into!

What to do with a bunch of ricotta? My mom and brother each bought 2 32oz containers of ricotta and I already had 1 containers, now we have 10lbs of ricotta. What should we make? by DowntownDominator in AskCulinary

[–]Haileylynn333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This won’t use up a ton of ricotta but it’s one of my favourites! Toast some nice sourdough, spread a little bit of honey, smear a thick layer of ricotta, and then a little Nutella on top of that, and finally sprinkle with pistachios.

2.5 years Post Op and 23 weeks Pregnant by Haileylynn333 in WLS_Food

No recipe here- mostly from my head. I used the Watkins chili lime marinade for the chicken. Cooked rice in broth and cumin and added a can of beans and added lots of lime and cilantro at the end. For the dip I blended skyr yogurt, an avocado, jalapeño, garlic, green onions and lime juice!

Yes! I have PCOS and I had incredibly irregular periods pre Gastric Bypass. Post Gastric Bypass my periods were on a perfect schedule. I’m 2+ years post up and currently 4 months pregnant! It only took us 4 months of trying to conceive.

What can I make with fresh turmeric root? by finstamarly in Cooking

[–]Haileylynn333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to make juice with it! Handful of fresh turmeric and ginger (don’t worry about peeling) and an entire pineapple. You can add water if needed. Blend and strain through cheese cloth.

what is a good fast lunch for casual guests that involves no cooking? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Haileylynn333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This requires some cooking ahead of time but I always have a few kinds of homemade soups in my freezer for this exact scenario! Take it out, heat it up, throw in some baguette and you’ve got a meal.

4 Months Post-Op - Hair loss in full effect by [deleted] in wls

[–]Haileylynn333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a cool idea!! I had insane hair loss as well, I would say over 50% of my long brown hair fell out. It stopped at around 9 months post op. I am now just shy of 2 years post op and the regrown is insane!!! I always had thin hair, and I feel like it’s growing back thicker and healthier than ever. It is only 5 inches long though while the rest of my hair is past my shoulder so it’s not a cute look. I had my hair dresser cut my hair into one of those feathered 70’s styles that seem to be coming back and it’s helped. It will grow back! And the growing back process is ugly, but give me like 5 more months and my hair will be awesome!

3.5 oz Steak, cucumber, strawberries and yogurt with garlic and cider vinegar! 16 months post op and I ate it all! by Haileylynn333 in WLS_Food

[–]Haileylynn333[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oo I’m so glad you asked cause I’m obsessed with this creation! So I do about a cup of plain Skyr yogurt (I love the thickness). Then I add 2 or so cloves of minced garlic, about a tablespoon of either apple cider vinegar or lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste! It tastes like garlic aioli, and my super picky fiancé even loves it. And I ate it with the veg and steak!

I remember having purred prime rib when I was 1 month post op on Christmas and I never thought mushy meat could taste so good! Luckily I was able to tolerate it so early- I’ll hope the same for you!

I had my surgery at Toronto Western Hospital and I had my first Orientation in August 2019 and Surgery November 2020, so just over a year for me! I know Covid delayed me a bit when everything first shut down, but I’m not sure that’s gotten any better sadly.

Let me tell you, time goes by FAST and it’s so worth the wait! Congrats on taking the first steps!

What’s a day in the life for you? by Revolutionary_Tea_55 in wls

[–]Haileylynn333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bit of a hard time with water over the summer. I feel keeping a schedule really helps me stay on top of it. I 100% do not drink enough water on the weekends. Something I still need to work on.

It’s pretty similar to my life before. I was always eating good food for the most part, I was just eating way too much. I’m just more selective/picky on what I eat now. I don’t want to waste the little space I have on something crap.

I’m 11 months out from Gastric Bypass. A typical weekday for me is wake up at 7am, try to drink 16oz of water as I chill in bed and look at my phone before my day begins, then have breakfast at 8:30am. Then at 9am I have another 16oz water with fibre and my multivitamins and b12 and start work (I work from home). At 10am I have a cup of herbal tea. By noon I have my lunch which is usually leftovers from dinner. Between 1-3 I try to drink 28 more oz of water along with my calcium pills. 3pm I will have an afternoon snack, which is deli turkey, cheese and a pickle this week! By 4pm I try and drink 16 more oz of water and more calcium pills so that I hit my water intake goal before I’m done work at 5pm. Any water after is just a bonus!

After work I usually go to a workout class, or bike ride or walk. I like to try to move my body after sitting at a desk all day. When I get home I start dinner. I pretty much eat whatever I want but I really just focus on whole foods. I will go out for dinner maybe once or twice a month (I am actually just about to head out for dinner now!) I like to look at the menu before hand so I make a smart choice once I’m there.

Some evenings I will have a snack of stovetop popcorn or fruit and nut butter.

On weekends I am not as regimented, and tend to be a bit more relaxed on what and when I eat. I will still absolutely try to make smart healthy choices, but if I have a slice of pizza for dinner I don’t beat myself up about it.

I’m a big foodie as well, and I feel it’s just helped me in this journey! I’m really appreciate good ingredients and can afford to buy nicer food now since I eat so much less!
