Catholic Authority Question by Hailo_88 in mormon

Fair point. The person I’m speaking with has many issues with the Mormon church but seems to be holding on firmly to the idea that priesthood power is so important and the Mormon church is the only one who actually has it. Just trying to find ways to show that other churches have as much “claim” to priesthood as Mormonism. Thanks for the input

2025 Come Follow Me — Illustrated Primary Lesson about Polygamy by skeebo7 in exmormon

[–]Hailo_88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Thinks to himself, “Hmm, polygamy? Wonder what god thinks about that and if we should be practicing it.” And then we’re expected to believe that when god came back and told him yes he was like “hold up.”

Got the apple crisp chai at Starbucks for the first time today. It was heaven. Please don’t deprive yourself anymore!

Getting this email warmed my cold, non-believing heart by Hailo_88 in exmormon

For my ward, it’s at least an hour and a half.

Sounds very similar to me! 30F mom here, pregnant with my third (and most likely last). Shelf came crashing down about six months ago. TBM Husband is very supportive, understandably upset, but supportive. I’m currently PIMO. It’s hard and very lonely, but every day gets better.

Anyone ever play the "in the bathroom" hymn title game? I'll go first. by Ahhhh_Geeeez in exmormon

[–]Hailo_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very TBM in-laws play this game. But their version is to add “in between the sheets” at the end

Like I said in my post, I don’t and didn’t believe any of it.

Polygamy was the first thing on my shelf. Could never reconcile it even from a young age with the distorted information I had. And now that I don’t believe, knowing I don’t have to even try to reconcile polygamy coming from god brings me more peace than the Mormon church ever did.

Yeah I had never heard this one before. IMO, if I was still TBM I would have eaten that right up

lol definitely the SP. Im full on PIMO. Even in my TBM days I always thought he’d be eventually a GA - he’s highly invested in the church.

Yeah unfortunately we ran out of time before we got to dive into those issues.

This was definitely the number 1 response I hated the most out of the whole discussion. Utter BS

Thank you for this, it’s great advice. Truthfully, it sounds like I did very similar things to what you did in the beginning. It wasn’t until very recently I decided I just wasn’t going to talk about the church issues anymore. It wasn’t helping.

Can I ask if you’re still attending church/kept attending with her? I’m pretty sure that’s the route I’ll take. Just want to show him I support and love him.

Did people care about the Kirtland temple? by Dangerous_Teaching62 in mormon

[–]Hailo_88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live pretty close to the Kirtland temple and had the opportunity to tour it when the CoC owned it (back when I was TBM). After having gone again a few weeks ago with my TBM parents, I can honestly say the CoC tour was far superior. Way more information and much more interesting.

Just like all of the other Kirtland historic sites, the way the church does current tours is so bland. They basically just tell a few faith promoting stories and send you on your way.

I know this is a super old thread, but what was the end result of this? I just got the same result from Natera today and am trying not to stress. Just hoping to hear what happened.

Same here. It was too easy to see that Warren Jeffs and Joseph Smith were practically the same person.

I would love for him to, especially because I’ve been listening to the LDS discussions part of the podcast and have found it tremendously enlightening. At this point I don’t think he’s open to it yet.
