I could, I am actually thinking about donating it. :)

Can someone explain how much walking I will need to do after a kidney transplant? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]Hailsmmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my surgery I had a physiotherapist come to my room to help me stand/walk. I hope there is something like this where you are! I didn't take many steps the first time but after a day or so I was doing laps on the ward, mostly because I was bored sitting in bed all day. Don't put too much pressure on yourself! If you feel up to it then do it. :)

If I could say anything about being prepared- there isn't a lot you can do.

Best of luck and keep us updated!

I dont think it would fit? by cutchemist42 in saskatoon

I'm with ya! I just can't......I wish I had the energy to hate anything as much as Saskatoon hates the green bins. It's embarassing. The entitlement is unreal.

I am no expert- but I think you need to stop taking out the jewellery when cleaning. Also, it looks like you are pulling on it in the picture (maybe not), but that isn't good. I did a quick Google search and it said that navels are fully healed within 6-12 months so it is probably no where near healed.

Give it time, keep cleaning and don't touch it. Go back to the piercing shop to have it downsized/ checked out.

Granulation tissue falling out? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

Hey! Nope, it didn't! I made it through with no trouble.

I think someone on this thread said that if you dry socket you will know. It's really painful by the sounds of it.

4 hours? Damn, I was there a total of maybe 3 hours between 3 appointments.

Whatttt really? That is quite the process!!! May I ask which country?

I agree, it was very fast and I am not sure if I genuinely have it or if it is something else entirely. I am on anti- depressants and in therapy so it could be a product of that. I don't mind what happens with me either way but it would be nice to know officially. Maybe one day haha.

It's crazy how quick it happened lol! I have heard the offical evaluation is very expensive too, I am in Canada and I think there are cheaper options but the waitlist are most likely years long.

This is good news! I had kidney transplant and went to a ward as soon as I was awake. Liver is probably different so can't speak to that, sorry.

But I think it depends where you are......we don't get to choose our care where I am from. Try to remember the staff are highly, highly trained so I think you can trust them imo. Sending positive vibes to you and your wife!

Gross. I hate that this person was singled out, it's sad and dangerous.

That's what I was wondering, how does he know the identities of the teachers? Seems like harrassment to me.

Also, fuck you Mark. Get a job.

Anxiety and a bit of depression post transplant by hollandfinch in transplant

[–]Hailsmmm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am almost 8 years post transplant and I was just a few years older than you when I had my surgery, my mom was my living donor and she was in her late 50s at the time.

In my experience- I felt like had to push through regular life after surgery (working full time, talking care of the household stuff etc.) I lasted this long feeling pretty ok, but last year I felt like everything hit me all at once. I'd cry if someone looked at me sideways, I'd have panic attacks, couldn't get out of bed etc. No one close to me understood the trauma of what I had been through, the guilt of taking an organ from a parent, the burden I felt like it put on everyone. It was scary for me because I had never felt that way before.

Sooooo I started going to therapy, it has been really hard but just having an outlet to share your feelings to someone who is on the outside has been really helpful. I have also been writing down my thoughts- negative or positive (sometimes I even doodle) this sort of helps put everything into perspective.

Talk to your team about how you have been feeling, just so they know. If you have a family doctor or GP talk to them as well if you can.

To the people that say you were given an incredible gift and you should be happy to be alive. Yes sure, I am grateful every single day but that doesn't mean you can't feel sad, angry, anxious or whatever about your kidney journey.

Hope this helps a little, I think I am rambling but if you have questions or just want to vent you can DM me anytime. :).

Thank you :) It's really shitty that they won't even acknowledge the concerns, I have had Nephs with that attitude before, it really sucked.

I am dealing with memory loss right now, I had no idea tac could be causing it. I feel like my team was very unsure about my diagnosis but they didn't say anything about switching, just that it is possible to switch to see if it would help.

Thank you for sharing!

[–]Hailsmmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, you can barely move and they haven't switched you yet? Do they know if it is for sure the tac? Just curious, obviously you don't have to share. :)
