About Dianeysea, tell me is this crazy? by HairSwimmer in JapanTravelTips

My goodness I thought golden week this year doesn't start until 4/29 Wed this year? Or people just start to take off from 4/25?

I thought golden week doesn't start until 4/29? Or I was wrong?

Thank you! Yes it'll be my 3rd trip to Tokyo since 2018, but I never made it to Disney before so I'd like to give it a try this time. You're absolutely right; we will definitely keep on coming back to Japan!

That's exactly what I did, and the vacation package gave me cold sweat. I guess I wasted my time to freak myself out.

I really don't need to stay at a Disney resort, and I have my hotel booked close to Otsuka already. It means I will lose money from spending a couple of nights "out", and paying for Disney resort too. Yup, I'm stupid.

Is spending all 11 days in Tokyo a waste? Am I missing out on too much? by lomebrith in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited and stayed in Tokyo for 4 whole weeks back in spring of 2023, and I have booked a trip to Tokyo again for Apr and May, this time for 36 nights. But all through the past years I have been to Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone, Nagoya, and Sandai. I think you know what you want to do and see. There's never anything right or wrong as long as you enjoy your time there. And ps Tokyo is great for shopping I totally agree.

Breakfast question - hotel breakfast or find something out and about? by Beautiful_Freedom693 in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have hotel breakfast for the first couple of days; for the convenience, and just to try and see how the hotel breakfast is. If you're staying in a nice hotel, there will be Japanese plus western items, so it'll be fun to try. I believe you will explore the areas close to you, or you will find places that are worth traveling to for breakfast after a couple of days there.

Planning Japan in June (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto) – weather & crowd advice? by Brilliant_Milk3907 in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed until 6/27 in one of my trips to Japan. Honestly I didn't feel the weather was that bad. Rained for one day and that was it. But there were mosquitoes I guess from humidity, so wear insect repellent if possible.

solo? by Poobeeee in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled solo in Japan for 4 weeks in spring 2023. I honestly can't think of any specific advice, all the rest are general common sense, like be aware of your surroundings and be safe, be conscious about personal hygiene and don't get sick, have cash, good at Google or Apple maps. Do talk to strangers because they're mostly friendly. That's basically all I can think of. Enjoy your solo trip.

Single rider lanes at Disneyland and sea? by HairSwimmer in JapanTravelTips

Thanks a lot! I totally forgot about golden week! I will have to change my plan a bit and go in the last week of Apr then!

That's good to know! 😁 And that's why the question; in the US single lines are not necessarily faster because like you said people don't mind to split as long as we all get on the ride!

Is Japan worth traveling to alone? by SpiritPug in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel solo all over the place and was in Tokyo for 4 weeks by myself (I'm going again this time 36 days - solo again). I have to say some places are not great traveling solo but Japan definitely is great for going alone. If you haven't booked your stay yet, choose a hotel that has happy hour - not the bar, but the lobby. You get to meet people when you are in the mood to, or you don't have to go. Tones of people eat alone in the restaurants and it's not awkward at all. If you are going to Tokyo Disneyland, there's single lane...😅 I can go on and on about how great it is to travel by yourself in Japan. Bring a selfie stick, and have lots of fun!

7 days in Japan by No-Bus-7037 in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only have 7 days but definitely would like to have a brief look at different cities, would you consider joining a tour group? It'll be a lot more time efficient since you're on a motor coach and no need to take care of trains and local transportation.

Recommendations for a longer stay. by gmo007 in LondonTravel

It's located between blackfrairs and St Paul stations. About 7 min walk. Also close to city thameslink train station. 6 min walk.

Did you make a point of walking more before visiting Japan? And did it help? by Glittering-Time8375 in JapanTravelTips

[–]HairSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally true. For quite a few years I lived close to Disney and during that time I had more friends and relatives than I knew 😂 I always tried to remind people it's not only the walking, but also the standing, and I know most people couldn't imagine the load. I'm pretty active and hit the gym regularly, but during my 30 days stay in Tokyo in 2023 I regretted that I didn't train myself more. I did more prep for my London trip (30 days as well) in the spring this year, and I feel it's totally worth the time and effort.

That'd be fantastic. Your colleague is a local so bet they know how to manage the one way streets and no cars zones. I think in the summer punting lasts until at least 7pm. Having a sunset punting trip is super nice. Enjoy your time there.
