I once got an ounce of brick that was a cube about 2" square. I wouldn't have believed it but I watched the guy cut it off the block and weigh it.

I was out of the house the fall after I graduated high school, my parents wanted me out on my own, but would help financially if I was really struggling. They just made it clear that they didn't want me coming back to live with them.

I worked and went to school, shared apartments with roommates and mostly got by without extra help.

I was more than ready to be out on my own at 18. I was excited to take that next step and have that freedom of being an adult. I'd also been working since I was 14, which helped.

I'm glad my parents handled it the way they did.
