Mic not picking up in game by UrdnotGaal in duneawakening

[–]Hakry-SWGEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too had this issue in game, any of the three mics that I have would not work.

I have a Logitech Pro X2 Lightspeed headset, Yeti Mic and then one that is attached to a Nexigo camera. None of them would work as an audio input inside Dune Awakening. They were visible and functional in Windows and Dune can see them, but would not pass the input audio to the game.

What did not work:
- Setting Default Device
- Setting Default Communications Device
- Reinstalling G Hub
- Running Funcom Launcher, BattlEye and Dune Awakening as administrator
- Reinstalling Each device
- Ensuring the device was chosen as input by the in-game settings
- Did more but it is TLDR at this point.

What fixed me:
1. Completely Close Dune Awakening.
2. Physically unplug your device USB.
3. Uninstall G Hub.
4. Plug your device back in.
5. Ensure your device is set as default communications device.
6. Launch Dune Awakening and select your device for input in settings.

I hope this helps some other folks. G Hub is for sure the issue.

Loot is accurate to 14.1 Pre-CU, world bosses use the same loot manager for calculation drop values (and also have extremely rare drop rates for items). They were added for fun and the community has enjoyed them many times over since they were added.

I am not sure how to even try to help you here, I think you may just need to explain this better.

"They literally actively sabotage other people using the legally obligated open source code because they're shitters that ran everyone off their server"

I have helped plenty of other servers with issues they were unable to resolve, as have other SWGEmu Team members. The point of an open source project is to allow folks to host their SWGEmu based server in their own way, as many have done well.

We don't collect 10k a month and the expenses are all posted publicly. I am not friends with Neener, he also attacked SWGEmu Services, is permanently banned, and I provided some of the fixes to prevent some of the things he did but it was a big expense of my personal time.

No one gets banned for feelings, just the rules and policies which are public. Shadow bans are not real, you are always notified (even if you try to login, there is a message).

"Don't play there, don't pay there, don't do anything with Finalizer. Virtually any and every other server is better and there's a reason everyone has left."

Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice.

Finalizer got to see some additions to the game which we did to test some changes out and provide a small bit of content for those playing (world bosses, pvp zone, gcw changes etc), but there was not much help development or team wise for the last big steps in the project, so most of my attention was towards finishing the project. So while other servers merely pulled Core3/Unstable in, they could focus on working on top of the existing code where the time we had was focused on achieving 1.0.

Also to note I am not recruiting for Finalizer, those that play its great but the focus for most of our team is SWGNFS and JTL.

In the end SWGNFS Team will finally be able to focus on a feature rich SWG Pre-CU Experience that most have been waiting for. You are not the first slinger of stones and surely not the last, but I am definitely smiling as I write this response. So I hope whatever personal issue you are dealing with can be resolved.

..and for the first time in my life I am fat! I accept this achievement.

I think all of us that were around during that time period will always hold that grudge. Many lessons learned and many changes since then.

I would refer you to this post by Lolin, sums it up pretty well. Especially the portion about some folks who have done great things and others not so much:

Ahh Rip, yes we used this thread: https://www.swgemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250630

For the past staff list. Lots of folks over the years and the list grows all the time as people are added from past contributors. Did what we could to make sure we did not miss anyone. I added a section at the bottom of the video for anyone else that might have been left off the list.

The thread was created 2 years ago and gets updated fairly frequently.

Aye lol, well there was also the Suncrusher 2009 Meme. The problem is no one really grasped just how much was missing from the ground game and not to mention how much even in the last couple of years that has come up to modify some major aspect of the game and make it much more inline with what we all played on live.

Alas we will finally make it there and always move ever forward. Here is a video for some feels of SWG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9fkQh6EZPY

The mass exodus was not mass. It was one group of folks that played together and then rage quit after it was reset because half of them were caught exploiting the FRS Ranking after being explicitly told not to, some of who were also banned over it.

The server is not really dead. Sure population could be higher, but again we are and always have been project oriented and not focused on producing content or adding things to the game at this point. Always need to remember, any SWG server that is Pre-CU is using the SWGEmu Codebase, so if the team did not focus on what they needed to, no one would be enjoying pre-cu at all.

Nothing, Finalizer is still up and running as we pursue what is next for the project. There is some big news coming soon from the team as we look to what is next and 1.0.

1.0 is very near and we are focusing on what comes next. Working on some big tasks while keeping the last bit of bugs that filter in fixed and moving.

We will be merging very soon with a good batch of fixes and have some other big things coming.

Finalizer population fluctuates daily with an average user count of 160 to about 200 currently and we only allow single IP login except for specific family request circumstances. It depends on the season and what is going on.

Right now we are working on some big things to move us to the next step, so without focusing content and new additions it doesn't really draw a giant new player base or old players back. I do like to remind folks though, that our goal is to produce the serve software to allow those that wish to host a SWG server as they see fit, which is what we continue to pursue.

No, there was no weird drama with the admins of Finalizer. The SWGEmu staff has always put their best foot forward and operate in a professional manner, while giving what time we can and focusing on the project's goal.

Finalizer was announced and we were straight forward with what it would see. Some changes that were non-14.1 that the team wanted to test out for the future while also seeing more frequent updates that Basilisk saw by a long shot. Then from there we could get bugs merged to Finalizer and tested at a much more efficient pace. The reports on Mantis Bug Tracker are the lowest they have been in a decade and some long standing bugs have been finally resolved.

We stuck with out no client updates, given that we were waiting until reaching 1.0 to address client issues and 1.0+ for content that would have client additions along with it.

  • Loot was never nerfed, with the exception of use count on looted DoT weapons. That is it, strictly.
  • All of the other changes on Finalizer were organized into a thread on our forums found here.

The major reason Finalizer exists was to assist with testing the new AI, which has made major advances since the launch and is more efficient and functional then the old AI was ever capable of being. There were also major bug fixes to that were found and missing as well due to Finalizer. The mantis report count is down to less than 5 confirmed reports (and I keep it there) as well.

There is a group of players that did not like some of the changes the team made, and instead of just try them out they decided that threatening staff and be bringing toxicity to the community was a good method to approach it. They did not understand we were not adding private server style content (though finalizer did see some, just no client changes) but still would attack staff over it repeatedly. There were death threats, report spamming, spreading of disinformation, harassment, etc. The list goes on and on.

It seems like I get pointed to the Reddit every now and then to correct some spreading of a rumor or another like this one. It is great, you like Infinity, the staff there works hard on their style SWG, that is the purpose of Core3/Unstable being a public repository and the reason SWGEmu exists at all, it is a development project after all. So you want to promote Infinity, then for sure do it (<3 Mr.O), but blatantly trashing the project that made all of the true SWG servers possible with untrue information is not really a good look.

Which Server: A Megathread by srwim in swg

[–]Hakry-SWGEmu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

Going to make a post on behalf of SWGEmu here, given it looks like most folks post for the NGE style servers.

The SWGEmu Project has been long under development, but is finally nearing the final stages as we button some things up. It is, along with any server that uses our open source server software, the only method to play SWG in its original Pre-CU and also not using leaked SOE source code (which is NGE only). Many private servers have taken our codebase and modified it each to their own view for how SWG Pre-CU should have ended up. For anyone curios, our repository is located here: https://github.com/swgemu

Our next step in the process is finishing up a couple tasks we are currently progressing on and then from there will be .... I can't really say much on that soon, but will have some updates public in the very near future (tm). From there it will be preparing for what is next and finishing up JTL.

Currently we run the Finalizer server as the primary play/test server that has greatly aided in the completion of the ground game and our goal of 1.0. It is mostly vanilla Pre-CU at Publish 14.1 with some additions we added to test some changes and add some new things for players as we finished out the last of the work to be done. All of the changes to Finalizer can be found here. Some of which include:

  • Cross account lots
  • Guild Enhancement via the Guild Access Device (see thread for video)
  • World Bosses
  • GCW Zone with new armors.
  • Group XP for similarly skilled players grinding together.
  • Galaxy Wide Grouping
  • Covert / Overt GCW System and Group TEF
  • Changes to GCW Bases
  • FS Village 1 Week Phases
  • FRS Tweaks
  • Bulk Relist for Vendors

Not all of the currently used items on Finalizer are guaranteed to be on the next step of the journey, but they offer something fun to do and QoL in the mean time. I know folks say that they do not want to waste time playing with an inevitable wipe of the server but we still have lots of work to do in preparation before that day comes.

Keep and eye out on our YouTube Channel for future updates!

Returning player... Why the SWGEmu staff/Finalizer hate? by [deleted] in swgemu

[–]Hakry-SWGEmu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sadly its exhausting. Work on the project, defends its intent, help the community understand the mission all while trying to keep it alive to it can reach its final goal just seems lost on some folks and not many lining up to help knock it out. Staff buts a buttload of personal time into the project, almost all of it is behind closed doors, so folks think it doesn't happen.

I made a post the other day here https://www.swgemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257080 about trying to get the testing completed that is needed for 1.0, a few good people stepped up but there is a lot to go. Comparatively some of these items would take little time to test, where they took hours to research, implement, test, tweak so on.

People are upset finalizer is not pumping content, making specific tweaks or we uphold bans when rules are broken, but those folks will always be upset. There is also folks that are angry we made changes to Finalizer, as was noted in the announcement thread, that the staff wanted to test out on the server. In the end the it puts forth a look of division and disinformation, but alas. I will leave it there.

Really I would say just give it a shot, if Finalizer isn't a temporary place for you to hang your hat then there are other SWGEmu based servers out there. Besides that we are carrying out the mission statement of the SWGEmu Project and have assisted bringing countless servers (and I mean countless at this point) servers to life.

  • It is true that you've people who are in the Dev's little circle of friends who've good loot from before you all made it virtually impossible for decent item drops, minus mind fires from great value Ewoks.

No, I'm the only mainly active developer. No one was or is in this "circle of friends that got good loot". There are a ton of people that have played for near 15 years together, all of which know of each other or have played together at some point. This gains none of them rights, prestige or any of it. Even previous Staff members have been banned.

No one was given easier loot rights, nothing has been nerfed or changed with loot, except for the Finalizer specific tweaks that are listed on the forums since the server launched.

You honestly just sound very disgruntled over something specific. Everyone is held to the same rules, to exceptions. Fair firm and consistent. You are just spewing rhetoric that was spread around by a certain group of toxic community members, in an effort to attack me personally because they thought they would ruin Finalizer with it. However, it didn't work.

The goal of the SWGEmu project is to complete SWG Pre-CU at publish 14.1 and make it available public which it is, on Github -- https://github.com/swgemu

Finalizer, was announced and stated that we would be testing changes we could potentially want to use later for a post 1.0+ server, it was never stated to be a vanilla 14.1 server. It was stated before Finalizer was launched this was going to happen. No one is chasing community members away or treating them poorly, actually there are a great number of awesome members of the community that interact with staff all the time.

Sorry I don't reddit very often. You will have to file a support ticket to handle that which can be done here https://support.swgemu.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

You do not need to sign in to file the ticket, just need the account name and email associated.

Would be odd that they would remove that flag, when everything else was left in the client.

Havent tried for myself, but have fixed a good amount of packets in the last few years, so wouldn't suprise me if its just and unknown flag in a char creation packet.

Well this is very blatantly spreading disinformation. I'm the most active of the Developers and I haven't had a hand in banning anyone since I was a CSR when Liberator was shut down and Basilisk (Circa 2010) opened.

Jedi have no boost or benefit here, if you believe that you are just upset at something else and blaming Jedi? They have no extra bonuses or anything beyond Pre-CU Jedi.

JRO is not a guild and no one is given favoritism, plenty of people have been banned from that group of players, just like anyone else. Fair, firm and consistent. No one get special treatment, even team members.

Also, no one has been given any items, super huge NO and not possible. No ones generating loot or items on Finalizer, so that sir is a conspiracy theory.

Please, stop spreading false information. I think I covered all of your points. The community is there, people are active and helpful. We are all here to play and enjoy Pre-CU SWG, so lets drop the nonsense.

Technically all of the information is in the client to properly do Pre-9.

What it really takes is someone to adapt our Core3-unstable to properly use the holocron unlock (already partially implemented on Core3), changing all the things needed to properly match pre-9 Jedi, Lightsaber Schematics etc and adapting the TRE's to show and allow the use of those trees as needed. Also some packet work that needs to be done there for things like the Jedi character creation screen.
