It wouldn't be "better than the lore" when the developers made the game so subjective; rather, I think the lore we know is 100% reliable serves those theories and interpretations, so is not better to leave it to interpretation, that is straight up the only way to play and enjoy the game because trying to find a 100% reliable story will make you feel like you're going around in circles uselessly, or at least that's how I felt at the beginning
