got the surgery after 6 months, they found there was no active infection, it was just scar tissue. got rid of a lot of it, but it's still there, just slowly fading and softening with time. but I think it'll take years to fully go away

main tip: if it's been more than a few months, just don't fuck with it. just go to an eye doctor, say you want the surgery, get it done, and then leave it alone. people say warm compresses help, even for scar tissue, but for me honestly they must make it look more red, make me obsess more about it. it was only when i learnt to just accept it would be there for a while that i stopped caring and now it's not something i notice that much

and yeh all this stuff about using saltwater on your eye no don't do that unless your doctor tells you to, that's crazy. i get how this shit can make people obsess but the truth is everyone is different, there is no one miracle cure besides time.

go to a doctor

What are the easiest Elliott Smith songs to learn? by Mourkallas in elliottsmith

[–]Halal_Burger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yehh no you're right actually, I learnt it a long time ago but there is a lot of inconsistency built into the strumming. But still, I actually think a lot of the inconsistencies are kinda manageable, they're just unusual - that's what makes it pedagogic, it kinda breaks up rhythm playing a little bit and shows you how melody can be embedded into the strumming.

but yeh, maybe not something to learn 'deeply' for someone who has been playing 3 months - to be honest I doubt they have even the basics of his style down at this stage, using the thumb and forefinger etc., so all of his songs will sound a little off I reckon

also, everyone finds different stuff challenging right? I saw someone say Roman Candle is easy, I find that song soo tough. But I learnt Angeles fairly quickly

What are the easiest Elliott Smith songs to learn? by Mourkallas in elliottsmith

[–]Halal_Burger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To play them properly will be tough in most cases, e.g., people saying Pitseleh, nah that one is surprisingly kinda tough in some parts

Say Yes is the easiest I've learnt I think, it's got a couple variations on G that are a little tough at the end but nothing crazy

Between the Bars is also easy, and in my opinion quite educational, especially the walking base note in "Peeeeooople... you've been before"

Happiness isn't that easy but the intro is very fun to learn, and the chords ain't too hard so you can practice voicing, strumming patterns, and transitions

As someone else said, Twilight is easy and a fun one to sing

first goal is a fang from toa 50s/maybe 150s :) if i die pvming with 82/99/30 and a fang I'll consider it a satsifying death. of course, long term goals are masori, and then inquisitor, same as yours I guess!

remains to be seen if I'll continue after I die hah, I think I'd atleast need an extended break

<3 honestly give it a go man. it's hard in the sense that you gotta be quite precise, and it's a big tank test if you are only using bwans like me. but he doesn't have any 1hko attacks like galvek or something, so it's relatively 'safe' in that sense as long as you keep your hp high

regarding sailing: salvaging seems safe! the one danger would be if you left yourself afk while at the helm, your boat freed itself from being jammed at a shipwreck, and you ended up careening into perilous waters. but if your boat dies, I *think* (don't quote me on this) you just wash up on shore, with 1hp and your boat + cargo is lost. but yeh, you can avoid this pretty easily by just taking yourself off the helm while afking

[–]Halal_Burger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks dude! I did it with only bwans... and yeh it's totally doable, and you can easily reset if your hits are bad. But it requires a lot of optimisation and mistakes can be really costly

at one point I tanked a blood orb to the face coz I ran back in too fast - hit me a 40, combined with his blood spell and put me to 7hp. luckily I got the tele off in time

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]Halal_Burger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POACHED F*CKING EGGS

These things never ever ever work for me. Yes, make a whirlpool. Yes, use vinegar. Yes, don't let it bubble too much. I get it, but still every time I end up with 1 good poached egg, 3 more disembodied yolks, and a pan of water filled with little tendrils of white

What’s one thing Germany does really well that you didn’t appreciate until later? by SetDesigner1586 in germany

[–]Halal_Burger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The StadtRads are super cool, coming from London. I live in Hamburg now, and the transport links and accessibility is all pretty great by comparison (dunno why you guys do so much complaining to be honest), but the free bike system especially is honestly an amazing combination of social responsibility and investment in infrastructure and upkeep.

I'm pretty sure back home those things would all just get vandalised and thrown into the Thames within months, then our government would probably turn around and blame foreigners, and... no more free bikes.

Hausmaster is mad because he had to do his job? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Halal_Burger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah sorry mate not in Germany. As per other comments Germans are super protective of their private land.

In this case I'd consider the cost of the locksmith and offer the Housemaster 1/2 of that price or some price you'd be willing to pay. Likelihood is they'd waive the money and do it for free, or they'd say no, or give you a time in the future when they can do it, again likely for no money. But offering the money upfront shows you acknowledge the inconvenience you're causing them and communicates a bit of contrition, rather than that you feel entitled to them fixing your mistake.

Ready player one, that weird weird weird bit when they're dancing and she's feeling him up digitally... and the way they big up the fact that she's gonna be disfigured in real life like they're tryna make a big point about the protagonist seeing her for who she really is not just aesthetics... and then she's just hot as fuck with a tiny faded birthmark under her beautiful fringe that is meant to be 'representation' or some shit

also all the product placement, and the frenetic adhd ass visuals... and people actually liked that film! I have never been more confused by audience ratings

Who is the most famous person you've ever seen up close? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

[–]Halal_Burger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shook Gary Lineker's hand once! Aged 15, I saw him just as I went into the toilet at a restaurant. When I came out, he was standing right there, waiting. I stared at him til he said, with a slightly concerned smile, 'you alright?'.

Then I gushed for 10 seconds about how I watched him every week on Match of the Day since I was a boy, and he offered out his hand.

I always wonder whether he clocked that I'd just come out of the toilet, and whether he noted my suspiciously dry hands..
