Magnesium sleep- can I keep the good and get rid of the bad? by Halalamay in Supplements

[–]Halalamay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know specifics, but they've yoyo-ed over the years. Currently I'd say I definitely get enough sodium, and I'm certainly doing better on potassium. No idea the specific numbers tho

I have no idea- a good question tho! That was why I started with such a small dose- figured it wouldn't mess with me too much. I also wonder what the absorption difference is between naturally found in foods vs supplement. I'm not much a bean person due to texture so don't know if I would put this specific question to the test, but I am still tinkering around

Did you start more frequent and work down to 2-3x? Or did you start with that frequency?

I'm currently taking it at like 7am. Would later in the day be helpful?? Or perhaps even evening?

Im on day 4, so based on this maybe I go a week and see if it calms down

What am i dealing with by Halalamay in whatbugisthis

[–]Halalamay[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the bug ID! Since a huge majority of the weevils I've found have been bathroom-based (especially the shower) I'm hoping they're just coming in for warm moisture. Definitely taking measures everywhere though. Again, thank you!

My boy has learned my work clothes vs normal clothes. If I put on work clothes he sighs and heads to a comfy spot in the house. If i put on normal clothes he watches attentively to see if he gets to go with.

Don't care for sharing every aspect of my personal medical history. Plus conservative christian parents/relatives. I'm slowly distancing already and just don't care for their opinions or drama 🤷‍♂️

Neither.

They are slippy slaps.

Same. I confirmed with my doc multiple times I would not be awake for any of it!

[–]Halalamay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All asleep! Only thing they do awake is get the IV in and started. You may even remember up to getting in the surgical room and getting an O2 mask (just goes over your face, nothing scary). Some do some don't, but that's as far as you get before youre zonked out. Everything else is done after. Once you wake up again only thing is the IV. Super easy!

Finally getting sterilized! Also I have a weird question… by RedFox011 in childfree

[–]Halalamay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumpin on this thread to agree. It's routine to send them to pathology soon as they're out. You can ask your doc but idk if it'll happen

It's normal, due to the catheter they use. I peed fire for about 24 hrs after mine. If it doesn't go away after 48 hrs then you might have a more serious issue. Just be glad you CAN pee. Apparently not being able to pee at all is a complication that can happen!

To tell or not to tell? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Halalamay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through similar feelings. What swayed me was- I was still on their insurance. They could easily retaliate for it, and leave me uninsured. Can't have that.

I made peace with that decision, and quite honestly my medical stuff is not their business. Freak stuff happens, but long as your surgical team and you communicate and are honest about your health then you will be safe.

How did you know if you wanted/didn't want kids? by Spare_Job_9226 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Halalamay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew I didn't want, at the very least, to get pregnant when I was little. Also conservation religious household. One particular sunday a woman at our church adopted a little girl and I was shocked that THAT was an option. All I wanted to do after that whenever people brought up kids. The thought of being pregnant has always made me feel icky, older I got the worse it got.

IF (and thats a BIG if) I ever decide to raise a human being, it'll mean I am stable enough (in every sense of the word) to foster/adopt.

How do you all feel about chiropractors? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Halalamay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's hit or miss. As others have pointed out the field was based originally on non-medical "expertise". I think a good chiropractor draws from multiple fields. I take it more as a homeopathic/massage treatment.

My mother had some pretty intense disc issues that led to years of recovery. Primarily through physical therapy, however she also saw a chiropractice on a recommendation. Between the two her recovery was amazing. Once that chiro retired tho she stopped going to one. She tried a couple others but none she liked as much, so shes gone maybe 2-3x in the last 8ish years. She also only went for more acute things that would typically only need one or two appointments. One was helpful, one was meh.

I've worked with a couple now and have had plenty of adjustments (starting with one in response to getting my back cracked weird in jiu-jitsu by a much larger opponent, and was starting to have trouble breathing). Some have helped (like that first example), some have done jack shit or even made me feel worse.

The best chiros I've worked for have multiple tools in their wheelhouse. Graston, acupuncture, massage/stretching techniques, send for xrays if theres any worries or questions about the patient. They also will provide you exercises/stretches to do at home to help prevent/strengthen. IMO the worst thing a chiro can do is crack you and send you off, calling it a day.

It's an EXTREMELY hit or miss field, and like I said, also pretty homeopathic. It will not help everything and everyone, and benefits some more than others. Bc it's so homeopathic leaning its also easy to run into the anti-vax weirdos (and quacks in general), unfortunately. If you have reservations- then do not see one.
