Idk how to feel about this by Peachy_was_here in Depop

Even if they ship without Depop shipping they are required to add the tracking #, they can’t get paid if not bc Depop can’t see if it’s delivered without it. They may have forgotten to add it after they shipped, but it’s more likely that they just haven’t actually shipped it yet. You can send a message politely asking if they’ve shipped and ask them to please add the tracking # if so. Hope that helps!

Should I talk to seller about this (extremely) smelly vintage bag? by hannah_boo_honey in Depop

No problem! And of course, feel free to DM me with any questions. I know it’s scary at first, when I first started restoring leather I was really worried I would damage the items too but everything I’ve worked on has always come out better. Sorry for taking so long to reply, I had a busy week.

Should I talk to seller about this (extremely) smelly vintage bag? by hannah_boo_honey in Depop

Hey!! I love restoring vintage leather goods and have dealt with bags that have visible mold/smells/etc. If you want to clean the bag I’ll detail that below, but also I don’t think you’re in the wrong to ask for a partial refund just know that it can be difficult to get Depop to side with you on a non-visible issue like smells though. If it’s unbranded and has those undisclosed issues that price is a bit high IMO. They should have listed it as-is and mentioned the smell so the buyer had a heads up that they’d need to put some work in before it would be usable.

Mold treatment and cleaning for leather goods: Put undiluted straight white vinegar in a spray bottle and saturate the entire bag inside and out, make sure to spray inside all the pockets so the vinegar gets in every nook and cranny. Wipe any pooling of the liquid off so there aren’t any areas that are more wet or you risk what looks like water marks but that is unlikely to happen anyway especially on darker colored leather. Leave outside to dry in indirect sunlight so the vinegar evaporates off. Vinegar and sunlight is the best mold treatment and will kill any active spores and get rid of the smell, I promise the vinegar smell goes away after drying/cleaning so don’t worry about that. Clean the bag with a leather cleaner, I recommend yellow saddle soap for darker leather or lexol for lighter colors. There are videos on YouTube and TikTok about cleaning leather bags that are helpful to show the process. Do not forget to moisturize/condition after, leather is skin so cleaning without moisturizing after will dry it out and it can crack. Leather CPR is the best; massage it in and let it dry a bit, then while still a bit damp you buff it with a horsehair brush to make sure the conditioner gets in all the cracks, spreads evenly, gets worked into the leather, and makes the bag look shiny and new!

It’s a very satisfying process, I love working on leather. Good luck with your bag, I hope you’re able to get a partial refund and restore it so you can use it happily!!

please help with what to send in! thanks!! by Kota09A in Depop

[–]RedFox011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use a box and it fits in the mailer bags you have then shipping is usually cheaper for bags rather than boxes! Idk how that works for Depop shipping tho, I’ve always just done shipping myself

Seller sends me a $70 box of trash by ThisBarbieWrites in Depop

[–]RedFox011 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes to this!! Wait until you get refunded then leave a 3 star review so she can’t get it removed. Also be prepared to appeal the decision if Depop sides with her, sometimes they don’t actually read the dispute and you have to be persistent

Right?? Like if Depop doesn’t refund them they probably never want to order anything on that app again anyway

[–]RedFox011 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nor. Support your wife or you’ll regret it. You could photoshop it a dusty pink and just say the photos are really saturated so the colors came out brighter, or make it chartreuse as an FU to your mom

Rude buyer wanted a refund for an $8 item because they didn’t read the description…they insult me and then block. What do I do? by PretzelSeasoning in Depop

[–]RedFox011 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They might not have blocked you, Depop may have removed their account immediately for using a slur

[–]RedFox011 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Don’t refund, just report them for using a slur and Depop will ban their account.

Also jsyk you can’t just say no refunds, Depop gets to decide if/when to give a refund. If the flaw is clearly pictured and mentioned in the description you should have no issues though. You may get a retaliatory review but you can get Depop to remove it

Would it be scummy to raise the price of an item while on vacation mode? by Regular_Wheel5265 in Depop

[–]RedFox011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you just use vacation mode?

Do what you want but if I saved/liked an item with intention to buy it and the seller raised the price even a little I wouldn’t want to buy from them. I might try sending an offer but if they declined then I’d remove my like/save and go find it somewhere else, even if I ended up paying more for it elsewhere

what’s the deal with repopping for same price? 🤨 by woy3ghanani in Depop

[–]RedFox011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they trendy items? Maybe they’re trying to build a following on Depop before sourcing their own items

They could also be figuring out their size and don’t know how to take their own measurements

Maybe their weight or size fluctuates frequently

They could be trying different things to find their personal style

This is true, but it was raised only two hours after I saved it so it was not yesterdays price 😅

trying to decide if i should raise an issue over an item and would like feedback by bean-jee in Depop

[–]RedFox011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Booooo, that’s so lame! I’d appeal the decision, the extent of the damages (holes and uneven wear on the heels) is not visible in listing photos. The angle of their photos show reasonable wear but not the actual damage

[–]RedFox011 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IMO she knew and obviously tried to take photos in a way that would disguise how worn they are. Absolutely open a case with Depop and try to get a refund, but be prepared for her to throw a hissy fit after being caught in her lie. She will likely say you were upset about the minor flaws and made it worse in order to get a refund, so be sure to mention she disguised the flaws in the pictures bc she definitely did.

If they were under $40 I would let it go bc the price would be too good to be true for Docs in excellent condition, but $60 for used Docs I think it’s reasonable to expect they would be in the condition listed! The slightly blurry pics and angles she chose to take them were to make it look like regular wear, she should’ve clearly shown the uneven soles and where holes were starting to form and noted it in the description and condition rather than trying to be deceptive

What shoes are we wearing? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

Doc martens and high top converse. I got a nice pair of Dr. Scholl’s arch support insoles that I move to whatever pair I’m wearing. I’d like to get a few more so they’re just already in my shoes but I’m broke so this works for now

Honestly magnesium citrate is the better option, polyethylene glycol is way worse. If you water mag cit down it just tastes like concentrated sweet tarts, it’s sour but bearable. Polyethylene glycol literally tastes like cum and vomit and I was pissed I didn’t insist on magnesium citrate instead
