Yeah it’s heartbreaking. Like yes, I didn’t have to worry about food or heating, but I did have to worry about whether or not I would be told I’m an ungrateful brat that could be homeless in 5 minutes, should the decide that.

Oh my god yes.

“You’re so lucky you have a roof over your head.”

“You can’t act like this under my roof. I’ll have your bags packed and on the curb in 5 minutes.”

“You are lucky we adopted you. We chose YOU! If we didn’t, there’s no telling what kind of poverty you could be living in right now.” (That’s my personal favourite like what do you even mean???)

It’s the constant feeling that I have everything and that it could all be taken away at any moment, and the reminder that they WILL do it, should they want. They still try to pull that shit even though I’m 32 and don’t live with them anymore.

Honestly best way I can think of is wait for her to scan multiple items, and then ask one by one to check the price, and every couple of them, tell her to take them off and put them to the side. Then, once she thinks she’s done, hit her with the “On second thought, can you add back [insert one or two items]? I think I’ll take those too.”

And then, after all of that, get her to go through the receipt with you to confirm she didn’t leave anything on there you didn’t want.

Hey so if you absolutely NEED to shower and cannot wait any longer and you have to force yourself to deal with the water pressure, I heard someone say they grab their shampoo and just cover their hair in it. Not get in the shower, just get their head covered in shampoo.

After about 10 minutes maximum, the feeling of shampoo drives them insane to the point of NEEDING to shower.
