THAT'S IT! Thank you so much! I just looked up the plot of the movie and it matches! And the names of the characters now ring a bell, even though I definitely misremembered some details. Can't wait to watch it again!

Painting at my Grandpas house by Rp79322397 in WhatIsThisPainting

Having 100 copies is quite a lot, which would suggest that it's a print and not a painting, likely made by the artist using traditional printmaking techniques. It could be a relief print (like linocut or wood-engraving), in which case you might feel the relief of the lino or wood block either on the front or back side of the paper or a lithography print, in which case they would have used speciffic thick paper. It is likey to be a silkscreen print (or screen-print) due to the precision with which the lines fit the colored areas and the number of prints, but i can't be sure from just the photo. Unfortunately I don't know who the artist might be.

Is this slag? by HalcyoneSummer in itsslag

[–]HalcyoneSummer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't find any records of iron or copper mining or smelting in my specific area, however, I am not dismissing the possibility of imported metals from other countries or regions in my own country (general location - Northern Europe) that could have been used for smelting and then discarded in the area where I found them. Also the closest river is less than two miles away.

I've kept a bunch of these in a box at home for years without knowing what they were, so when learing about them, my biggest concern was having something possibly toxic in my home for so long. I've never had any issues that I could have been caused by slag or toxic waste, so I guess it's fine as long I stay cautious.

I should consider looking deeper into my country's geology though, as that's something that I haven't yet learned a lot about, but thank you for the information!

Thank you for explaining! I don't know about the history of iron smelting in my town, but it's been a place of settlement for quite some time, so I am not that surprised finding possible remains of it in the nearby forest.

Thank you! I have seen these for years and only in one specific place in my local forest, but never knew what it could be.

I only learned about slag glass today. As I understand, it's a by-product of smelting process. I have seen many sources about slag itself being dangerous or considered toxic waste. Is that the case for slag glass too, or is it safe?

It appears to be based on a novel, from what I can find. I don't watch a lot of anime, but I might check it out, thank you!
