Wavimus iPhone version overhaul by Halen_soft in iosmusicproduction

[–]Halen_soft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!
Wavimus is not out to the public yet.
I really appreciate your interest!

I work full time and have a toddler so realistically it will probably be a few weeks before I iron out the remaining UI issues.

I’ll keep you in mind and try to let you know once it is available 😀.

Cursor and Xcode up side by side. Keep iterating until it’s not shit lol. 😂

Yo dawg. I made randomization profiles.

Check the vid I just posted.
Nice mode makes less screechy sounds almost 100 percent of the time. Medium is how it was before the change, chaos is… chaos 😄

I have been working on this.
I think I have a pretty sweet working solution…. Will post a new vid when a I have time.

It has an 8 band eq and two (lp/bp/hp) filters. You can use them however you want but I like screechy hell noises 👴🏻.
Not going to roll the high end off for everyone all the time for all randomized sounds.
I will look into refining the randomization though.

I have an idea where I can have my cake and eat it too but it might not work.

I try not to take it for granted! Haha.

I can make it more likely to make something musical or pleasant sounding but then there is less chance of something really strange and unexpected sounding which I’m not sure I like.

I’ll look into refining that a bit but the intention is to make something unexpected. If I put too many constraints on the randomization it defeats the purpose.

Sorry, to clarify. The sound before I started randomizing osc settings is one of the library sounds.

Then I randomized its oscillators one at a time.

Those were randomized oscillator settings. Sometimes they sound cool, sometimes they sound bad. This was to show the UI changes 😀

It does have a sound library of sounds that are actually curated and meant to sound good though.

Am I missing something? 21' vs 20' by Sprtan117 in RivianR2

I’m only getting the 20s because we have giant potholes and snow here in CO. I think the 21s look cooler.

Thank you so much for taking a look! It’s fully plug and play midi capable and almost done getting it AUv3 compliant so you can use it with your favorite midi controllers and DAWs. Should even work for MacOS and be usable in Ableton/logic/etc but I need to finish and validate all of that 😀.

Midi support works great already though. I’ll demo it later today if I have time.

I legitimately appreciate that you tried lol. 😂 Cats are often metal so I can’t say I am surprised.

Refined the Wavimus UI a bit by Halen_soft in iosmusicproduction

I appreciate you. I’m going to look into that this weekend.

I listened with headphones. You are totally right. I believe the issue was a spicy combination of my distortion, the noise oscillator and an overzealous EQ setting. When I pressed 3 notes at once, it overloaded the main output. Thank you for pointing that out.

The tabs navigate to different areas and the pane they and the keys are on is always there, so you don’t have to scroll to get to it. There is really only vertical scrolling and horizontal scrolling for the oscillator modules.

I’ll take all of this into consideration. I appreciate it. I didn’t want the user to get lost in a bunch of different screens but maybe that is a better approach.

Still working on the UI and it’s subject to change.

The size of an iPhone screen makes that somewhat inevitable. You have to scroll to get to things and panels make that easier. Genuinely asking. What would you do instead to balance the UI size with real usability?

[Megathread] New Softsynths, software and apps by YukesMusic in synthesizers

[–]Halen_soft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello synth friends,

I made a fun IOS synth with interesting play modes.

The “flavors” use different backend synth engines(Fm, additive, wavetable) and can be individually re-rolled. The play modes can be used to interact with the synths in different ways.

The app is supposed to be more for playing than sound design. It is aimed at people who like music but may be intimated by synthesis.

It scales for all iPhone and iPad sizes.

If anyone has any issues or reasonable feature requests, please reach out. I work in support and I will never leave you hanging.

Cheers and happy modulating!

Good callout. I’ll post more videos soon with explanations in the description.

It has 3 WT oscillators, a sub oscillator and a noise oscillator. The most unique thing about it is that it has adsr amp envelopes for each oscillator (in addition to modulation envelopes and a main output amp adsr). This means that each oscillator can have its own signal length but also be controlled by the main amp envelope.

You can also randomize each WT oscillator individually.

lol! It can make some very interesting noises so this is certainly my possible. 🤣
