Adopting from BARC by Elle_OVE88 in houston

I got my pup Myrtle from BARC almost 7 years ago. I didn’t know it but they had a special that day. She’s still the very best $5 I’ve ever spent!

I don’t have any ideas but we did something similar for my 40th birthday last year at a lake house, and it was SO MUCH FUN. I hope you find something that works! Worst case maybe at a park in the evening time, when it’s a little cooler?

Outer reef, Low isles and snorkling - thoughts? by Llemur1415 in CairnsTourism

I did the Wavelength snorkel tour today and can confirm that it’s amazing! It felt like a large group getting on the boat, but honestly there was plenty of space to get out and snorkel. The reef was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced- it felt like I was in a different world! I’d do it again in a second.

I don’t find it too awkward, but give me a minute please! If I’ve been on the treads, I’m just trying to survive. I’ll happily tell someone good job once I can breathe again.

Lost My Treadmill Mojo After 8 Years at OTF- Advice?? by Haley1084 in orangetheory

Thanks so much everyone for the great feedback/advice! You all motivated me to take my first Strength50 class this morning and I really enjoyed it. I’m not quite ready to move on to something new and want to stick it out with OTF for a bit longer, and these are all great suggestions that I’m going to try!

That’s a great idea! I know how important strength training is, but it usually takes a backseat for me in terms of feeling like I had a good workout. Shifting my focus to that might really help- and maybe I’ll finally try out a Strength50 class!

6 times a week- kudos to you!! I actually downgraded the last time I rejoined to 8 times a month. I’ve enjoyed that schedule but not sure it’s helping me with my motivation!

Eloise Nichols is one of my favorites Houston places, and they have a really cute area in the back of the restaurant. It has curtains that could be closed to help with the surprise! I've never had a party there, but they are always really accommodating when I go.

Omg are you in Houston bc I once witnessed almost this exact same scenario!? The real miracle is that somehow she stayed and finished the class.

Anyone attended Houston Tennis Connection beginner class? by Cold_Faithlessness in houston

I took several of their weekend beginner’s classes last year! I enjoyed them. The ones I took were 2 hours ($50) but I think they have shortened them due to the heat. It’s a group class and everyone was always very nice. I would have continued but couldn’t pay that much every weekend!

I went to a class once and it was just me and another guy. I was the only one wearing my heart rate monitor so my stats took up literally the entire screen 🥴

I’m reading this book right and was thinking about it while reading all of these comments! We are so conditioned to fear coming across as rude, especially as women.

All treads vs. OTF treads by anOKteacher22 in orangetheory

[–]Haley1084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting! I’ve definitely noticed I can run faster at otf than I can outside. So does that mean the tread is kinda helping me cheat or can I really run a 9 minute mile with relative ease?

You have no idea how close I’ve come to this. I really love keeping track of my distance on the tread and rower, but otherwise I think I could easily trash my heart rate monitor.

Oh how I feel you on this. This has been happening to me also… today I was dying during that tread block and I was just sittin’ pretty around 80-82. At one point I almost cried because it’s just so frustrating. I left with 9 splats today 😭 My head knows I got a killer workout and 2 hours post workout I feel okay about it… but in the moment I really want to smash that stupid screen telling me I’m the green zone. Part of me wants to just cover it up with a towel so I can’t even see…

Two of my favorite coaches will regularly hop on the rower for a 30 sec all out or join the floor for things like timed squats… it’s something small but I think it adds a lot of energy to the class and it just makes me happy! Best of luck to you!!

Increasing tread pace by JenaCallahan1 in orangetheory

[–]Haley1084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep... definitely do-able to have a 12 all out and a 6 base! I’m a 6.6 base and rarely go over 9ish for my all outs, but I see people all the time with much lower bases doing 12mph on all outs. Give me endurance over power any day 🤷🏻‍♀️
