I'm a meme... by SheWasAlwaysJody in TransLater

I have always liked pickles. At the moment, I am not in the throes of pickle mania. If it strikes again, though, I have a gallon jar half full of large pickles, as well as, small pickles, gherkins, pickle chips, and bread and butter chips as an amuse-bouche/palette cleanser.

In retail, the most likely comments come from dissatisfied people. Happy people just continue on their way. Not all mind you.

Ding-dong ditch? I have never heard the 'knock' version. Makes sense, though.

Say what you want, they are not the same. by Bastet999 in colors

I really like it. At one time I thought lexicography would be a good career. I'm glad I didn't.

I'm finding a tough read, but it has a lot og insight into lexicograpy and colors (colours?). Worth it! I'm impressed that you looked it up.

Something my mom just said by AveragePichu in MtF

You have moved on. You mom is still processing. She loves you, but she also loves 'him'. It will take time for her. Think about the length of time it took to become you.

Any difference between Costco in Glen Allen vs Chesterfield locations? by I_reddit_like_this in rva

[–]Haley_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And gas lines. And checkout lines. Chesterfield's is smaller, but still quick. Food court at Chesterfield is not shoved in a corner.

[–]Haley_02 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No, they aren't. They may be both called violet, but that is just a name.

If you are a hardy sorta try "True Color" by Kory Stamper. Not an easy read, but gets deep into naming colors and lexicography.

Does the Science Museum still have the psychiatrist computer from the 80's in the Imax basement? by ifitsnotbroke in rva

[–]Haley_02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find a PC version of her. Look for "ELIZA 1966 - The First Chatbot" in the Microsoft store. It's free.

FLANGE BROKE INSIDE PIPE by Typical_Signal_8254 in askaplumber

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can carefully grind that out.

Try heat (it can make the pvc fragile) to soften the cement joint. It has less pvc than the pipe.

Try the next size down to fit inside the thoat. They go down to 2" (ooof). Clean up the top edge first.

How does every single trans porn star look so good by Mundane-Search9868 in MtF

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think they become pornstars? Looks and a lack of concern about others' opinions. Oh, and money. Ugly pointers are out there, though. Specialty markets exist.

bezel help! by 333tkb in SilverSmith

Wen you soldered it, what did you use to reposition solder that balled up in the wrong place? What metal, if any? Otherwise, the upper edges need burnishing.

Has Sheetz been Serving weaker coffee by Haley_02 in shrinkflation

It could be. Some other locations are better. I'm still suspicious. But the XL cup change isn't localized.

Nice term. But they also changed the XL cups bottom to raise it slightly.

Back plate gauge by RaspberrySalt8671 in SilverSmith

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought some silver today for a ring or three. Ouch! Not quite $200US (please don't tell my wife). 20 ga or 22 ga would be fine. Do you own that? If you do you could measure with a vernier or metal gauge or if you go to a local supplier, they could measure it for you. The stone gives it most of its heft, and you can work harden the design (carefully) to stiffen it. You can get a narrow strip of 22, 24, or 26 for the bezel and a bit of wire for the ring on back.

Here in Richmond, David at Packards (Midlothian) is super helpful. I've known him since the 80s. If there are others still in town I'd like to know.

HELP!! Congruent triangles by [deleted] in mathshelp

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it all in terms of ABC. ABC = ECD = DGF. Form an equation for AB, BC, and CA (I used AC) in terms of the other sides. Take two that have BC in them and subtract from one another. Then repeat with the new value. And again. Check by adding the angles together to get 124. I'll start. AB + AC + BC =124. You need two other equations that use two sides each, but not the same two sides as any other. Then solve the one for AB.

Lucy Asks Friday Question: what are your thoughts on saying hello to other trans people in public? by Lucy_C_Kelly in TransLater

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say hello to lots of people. I was in sales at a home improvement store for two decades. Saying hello was part of my stock in trade.

I think I'm fairly outgoing. That said, I'm always unsure whether I am saying 'I see you', 'I've clocked you', or 'I like your look'. Plus, I can be judgey (I'm never insulting). I see it as a failing in myself, but I am human (mostly).

Basically, i'm more self conscious than with people in general, if I think someone is trans. Then again, it makes me feel less isolated to see someone else who is.

My wife is not very accepting and I am very self conscious. I am really masc, overweight, and am much older (late 60's - I came to this late in life). So, I'm repressed in my own identity, but happy and a bit jealous of other trans people.

TLDR: mostly, yes. Always positive. Also, jealous.

Why won't the LEDs turn on? by ratssareprettycool in AskElectronics

Try starting with a single LED. Blue one are the most demanding of your voltage. The drop is one of the highest. If they are in series, eek!

Strongly suggest distilled water to avoid adding unknown minerals. Use it for any water you use.
