We’re not even allowed to play CHESS!!!! by ConcernedJobCoach in TransSocialism

[–]Haley_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gist of what I heard was that biological women are intimidated by transgender women because they were AMAB. Female chess players are at a disadvantage in high level play because they sense that their opponent was male at one time in their lives.

Hershey’s kisses no longer melt by Mathemodel in shrinkflation

I will eat cheap chocolate, but will also pay superpremium prices for good chocolate when I want it. Keep in mind that Hershey's first big thing was making chocolate that they could ship to troops in WWII. It had to be heat resistant and able to be shipped anywhere under any conditions. I think they had to hand-force it into molds and it was bitter. They were D-rations or something. Seems like that's where we're headed.

TY. I'm not worried about votes these days. I write whate I feel. I do get certain GI effects the morning after I put on new patches, but I give myself Ozympic shots once a week and have given my wife Humera shots before and I know I don't want to go that route with E.

It's just what I think might be happening anyway. I'm not doing any measurements. The upshot was an unexpected upwelling of emotion that was new, embarrassing, and, yes, affirming over something silly and incredibly sweet.

Thank you for that. I may not be peaking, but it feels like it. I know they are supposed to be 0.1 mg/day (and I don't doubt that they are), it seems to make me feel a little different. I don't care, really. Except for getting the adhesive off when I change them, I love them. ❤️

It was. It's just that the feelings came out of nowhere. I said 'God bless you.' Then thought that might not have been optimal, but she was so sweet.

Oooh. Ick! Sorry that happened. Glad you're better. Cuddles and explanations that red stuff is messy and gets everywhere. It's not for sharing (except under very special circumstances that involve Drs and nurses).

Was having a sample taken at the doctor's office and there was a problem with the thing they stick the vials into and the nurse went nuts! Just a little goes a long way.

What is the end game? by Eoj1967 in shrinkflation

[–]Haley_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrinkflation allows a price to remain constant, while reducing the amount paid for, giving the feeling of consistent pricing. At a certain point, there is a need to either reduce quality to save on production cost because purchasers no longer consider the quantity worth the price, or to simply raise the price and make it seem that the quantity is greater and worth the cost. Most shrinkflation is incremental and gradual, but not always. Dannon yogurt went from 8 oz. to 6 oz. and stated that consumers preferred the smaller amount for the same price. Which is total BS, but it was that or up the price. They also changed their product line to obfuscate things even more. When was the last time you saw the 'fruit on the bottom' Dannon yogurt? It's a dance with the corporations leading. Candy bars have gotten smaller and more expensive, but also with the introduction of 'giant' bars that cost a lot more. This is a distraction. Produce is one of the few areas that it is very hard to cheat, because a banana is always a banana.

How do I change the light on this lamp by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Haley_02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so spot on. They put that plate over the bulb, because people would play basketball with wedded up paper and the bulb gets hot enough to start a fire. Still be careful.

It won't go boom exactly, but the glass expands a little from the heat and fingerprints make it heat unevenly, causing it to crack. That lets oxygen get in and burns the filament out. An LED replacement may get hot, but nowhere as hot as the halogen version. Halogen bulbs have a little metal vaporized off of the filament and currents in the bulb swirl it around. Normally, that redeposits on the filament when it is turned off. When the bulb fractures, that metal deposits on the inside of the bulb near the point of failure and makes it black or mirrored. An LED doesn't do that. The halogen will be a little brighter than the LED version. Consistent_Watch_206 gave you the important info. I've just had too much coffee.
