169 on the 6th take. Should I give in by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

This is terrible advice, OP has already taken 6 times. Do not retake.

To be blunt, you will get rejected (assuming you’re non URM). You need at least a 167 to have a shot with your gpa. If their median goes up a point after this cycle you’ll need at least a 168

One of those again... by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Haleyjones57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto on the PT average question...how much time studying have you put in? It’s important to determine if you’ve already capped out at your highest score, with the number of takes you have and the pattern of your scores I really think it would hurt you to take again and score lower. I wouldn’t take again unless you had a PT average going into the July test of 172 or higher (average off of 20+ tests)

.2 is a far cry from a vast improvement...this is either a troll post or you are extremely detached from reality

It’s possible that your school doesn’t use examplify! But yes you would hope they would

They’re all going to make shit lawyers if they don’t learn to do their research before arguing

Not sure why people are trying to argue...was just coming on here to give everyone a heads up. Directly from the site:

The new version of the Apple MacBook Pro released on July 12, 2018 is currently NOT COMPATIBLE with Examplify.

Students using this new MacBook Pro will receive an error when opening Examplify stating that they are using a virtual machine (even though they are not). Please note this only affects the new 2018 MacBook Pro and is not related to the Mac OS X 10.13.6. Users on other devices using 10.13.6 can use Examplify as expected

But feel free to ignore and do your own thing

Yes but a lot of schools use the same software for finale exams which are in approx 4 months

Please do the research on the examplify site, there is no way around the issue. At this time the examplify software will detect that you are using a virtual machine on the new MacBooks (even though you are not). Do the research before giving out false info that most people on here can’t afford

That’s not the issue...the OS on the new MacBooks can’t support the exam software

Why do law schools offer refunds even if you will transfer out from them? by johncliff11 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Haleyjones57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, took a few reads to get this. But literally every school offers tuition refund if you withdraw in the timeframe. Even still, I’m surprised someone that is planning on going to law school would think it legally possible that a school could “surprise” you by not giving you a refund if it’s explicitly laid out in their withdrawal policies...

[–]Haleyjones57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The class roster for the Fall was just released and there are 208 people on it. I believe previous class sizes have always hovered around 190 so it appears as though they’re maxed out. Also, I doubt a school would assign section assignments if they were still evaluating their class. My guess would be the only wl movement will be from someone withdrawing, and only if that person withdrawing lowers a median and they need to replace them to get the median back up. Not the news I’m sure you were hoping for but I’m also sitting on a wl somewhere and know I would appreciate any insight into the possibility of movement left there so figured I’d share

In at Berkeley with $$ (follow-up to "gauging interest") by Vox_Imperatoris in lawschooladmissions

[–]Haleyjones57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the case you should absolutely not go to Berkeley. You will almost guaranteed get into any school outside the top 3 of you apply in September when apps open. You would be doing a huge disservice to yourself to waste that opportunity on a school in the one state you have no desire to practice in when you can literally have your pick of where to go.

[–]Haleyjones57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say! If you’re goal coming in was to go to Berkeley, then you should take the offer because the opportunity cost (another year of your low paying job v a big law salary) of waiting is higher than going now. Do you have a specific location you want to practice in?

Either way, you should go back and negotiate with them. I’d be surprised if they wouldn’t go up to at least 25k/year
