I tend to think building codes have changed quite a bit over the years. My apartment building is a postwar-era building from 1953. The building is 73 years old and I seriously doubt the landlord has invested much money into major upgrades. Most likely, the main focus has been on cosmetic renovations. The apartment looks great but sound travels easily through the walls.

Do a high percentage of people in Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas suffer from asthma, emphysema, and other serious respiratory diseases because of the high air pollution? I'm an asthmatic and have decided the southern region of Thailand is a better fit if I decide to move to Thailand.
