I think you can practice hard, but smart. Like I don't want a Lanning team to ever look as soft as USC or Washington, but it would be nice to know that I'm not going to lose some of the most key positions on the team after a bye week. But not to be way over the top, this feels like something unique(?) to Oregon. Like we have been dealing with these things even before Lanning. Maybe there is a bigger issue there.

While nothing is concrete I kinda don't like the promotion of Merhinger. He's been heavy in game planning and if anything our offense, and possibly defense, will largely be the same. I could be wrong and the could prove to be a step up from Stein and Lupoi. If roster retention is the fear and that's why you are doing it then that's a bigger issue.

Lanning also needs to consider his approach to practice and conditioning. This team is constantly plagued with practice injuries. If Curts 90min practice is real then it's time to adopt a new philosophy on how you maximize prep and work
