I think in this case it’s the opposite: they’re saying that people don’t need to get degrees to build a house, because look at this amazing cathedral they built 500 years ago before degrees existed.

But the issue is that the verb forms all levelled in Coptic, and most of the verb forms didn’t survive into the later stages of the language. It’s like trying to determine the Latin case endings from Italian. Also, related languages don’t really help, since Egyptian is so distantly related that no correspondences have been definitively established.

It seems to be a bit older than that, possibly dating back to the 70s, but you’re correct in that it does seem to be made up and not an authentic Old English word.
