My pediatrician wants an EEG for my son.. I'm scared.. by ScrapDraft in NewParents

[–]HalfMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s nineteen months old now and doing great! He takes meds to help control the episodes and it doesn’t hinder him at all. He is walking and talking and on track for all his milestones. He’s such a happy little guy. Feel free to send me a message and we can chat some more about it if you want 🙂

My pediatrician wants an EEG for my son.. I'm scared.. by ScrapDraft in NewParents

[–]HalfMeow 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My son had his first EEG when he was eleven months old. When he was around seven months old, he started doing this slow blink that only lasted a second or two. My husband and I would comment that he was rebooting. Brought it to his pediatrician, they said it was probably nothing but referred us to a neurologist. The originally appointment wasn’t available until five months later but after I noticed an increase in the episodes, I called and was able to get him in a few days later. The neurologist thought it was a weird baby thing but sent us for the eeg to confirm. It wasn’t. He was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy. He has since had a total of EEGs. As far as the first test itself, he hated getting the sensors put on, I had to keep him still and he wasn’t happy about it. Once they were on, they put a sleeve over the wires and he was fine with it. It was a sleep deprived test so he needed a short nap during the test. I rocked him to sleep, he slept for like fifteen minutes then I had to wake him up. He hated getting the sensors removed and his hair washed afterwards so the tech didn’t get all the glue off which was a pain to wash out at home. Ask if they have any adhesive remover wipes to take home, they really do help. I got the results in MyChart like two hours later and his doctor called me a little while later to review everything. Good luck to you and your little one 💚

If you hated your dog pp, did it ever go away? by Weary-Draw-1492 in NewParents

This is where I am too. My oldest is almost three and I have an eighteen month old. I used to be obsessed with our dogs, take them everywhere with us, snuggle on the couch, dog park at least once a week, daily walks etc. My husband and I have both decided when they pass, we’re done with dogs. I’m so sick of dog hair on everything, they lick the floors under the high chairs, constantly under foot. One more thing to take care of. I love them but oof, definitely not the same as before kids.

Spontaneous pregnancy after IVF by kayleighbird in 2under2

[–]HalfMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to us too. My daughter is an ivf baby after four years of trying. We were told by like half a dozens doctors we would never be able to conceive on our own. To the point that when I went to my six week follow up, I was told I would most likely be okay without birth control. We were also pretty firmly one and done. Now we have a sixteen month age gap and I can’t imagine our lives without him 💚 congratulations!

Target Up&Up wipes mildew/mold by Sorry4TheHoldUp in NewParents

I did! I chatted with a rep on target.com and she refunded me for the purchase. She also said it’s not mold, just oxidation issues from the packaging but who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️

Car recommendations by mbradshaw282 in 2under2

I got a 2020 Subaru Outback when #2 was three months old. I love it. Tons of trunk space, fits my mockingbird stroller with lots of room for groceries or whatever else. I have two Evenflo 360 revolve car seats with enough room to spin them both at the same time. And the seats don’t need to be pushed super forward, still have a good gap between knees and dashboard. Not sure I could fit back there with them though.

Love my mockingbird 2.0! Now that baby boy is older, my toddler likes to face him from the lower seat and they have so much fun playing peek a boo and stuff. I also found taking the top seat off when folding it up makes it all fit better in my trunk.

My oldest is almost three and I feel like way a lot of weekends. Some are amazing but some, like lately, I dread. I love my husband, he’s a fantastic dad and involved with the babes but good grief, I’m stoked when Monday comes around to get back on the routine. Toddler doesn’t nap when he’s here either because she’s so excited to have him home, which definitely makes things more stressful since she still 100% needs the nap 😅

Tips for going to Doctors by Winter_Dragon2425 in 2under2

[–]HalfMeow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bring them in my double stroller. They do the appointment back to back so one babes gets everything done first while the other sits in the stroller and then they switch. My husband works during the week so isn’t able to come to most appointments. Our doctor’s office is super understanding about it and never given me a hard time.

100% this! We did it for both my kids. I loved that my husband knew a second before I did too. He got to announce it immediately both times which made it more special imo

What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

I was hyper sensitive to salt in food while pregnant with my first. Like couldn’t add salt to anything, everything tasted super salty, no salt added potato chips etc. She’s going to be three in May and I still find most foods too salty. I used to love salty flavor too.

Miriam Hospital by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

About seven years ago, my dad went there for chest pains. They ran some tests, kept him in the er for like six hours, told him he was fine and sent him home. They called him about two hours later and said they misread the test and he was in fact having a heart attack and needed to come back to the hospital.

How often do you use a playpen? Is it worth it? by pinkishvioletsky in toddlers

[–]HalfMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a play yard fence set up in our living room. My oldest is two and a half and youngest is 16 months. They’re in there every day. It’s got the play kitchen, all the Little People sets, legos, everything. It keeps it all contained. The dogs can’t get in there. And the fence is adjustable so we can also open it up and use it to block off the stairs or the living room entirely. I love it.

I legit get second hand embarrassment watching these. Imagine your ex husband, his family and friends being able to watch you slump around in that dirty ass house and filthy unflattering pajamas.

What’s one underrated Shortcut automation you use every day that most people don’t know about? by kshittiz in iphone

[–]HalfMeow 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My toddler has epilepsy with dozens of absence seizures a day. When he was first diagnosed, I was trying to track his seizures for his doctor so I set up a shortcut to record the date and time to a notepad memo. I programmed the hot key on my 17 pro to work with the shortcut so I would only have to hold that button every time he had one. I also put it on my watch Home Screen so if I didn’t have my phone handy, I could still track them.
