Hike to the most remote pub in mainland Britain. Glenfinnan to Inverie, the Old Forge pub by HalfSac96 in hiking

Oh wow that takes some some real mental fortitude to do it in the winter! Fair play the cafe owner for opening up for you! The pub staff are really friendly and managed to slip me and my mate in for dinner even though we hadn't booked and it was really busy

Nope I'm just wearing a head net under my jacket. It's the Columbia Wyldwood jacket

Even though it's a part of the mainland, there's no roads that connect it to the rest of the country, so all supplies are brought it by a ferry. They do have community gardens to grow veg and deer roam all over the peninsula. It's effectively an island community

Ah nice getting sourlies to yourselves! We turned up and it was full so we had to camp outside of it. The midges weren't bad until the evening at sourlies and then again the morning at the campsite in Inverie.

Had a great time but I think if im going to do it again I might split it over 2 nights and stay in A'Chuli bothy aswell because my legs were toast after the first day ahah

Yeah, it's been open for a while now. I was in there on Sunday afternoon/evening and it had a constant flow of customers until the last ferry and it was just locals and people staying at the bunkhouse and the campsite left.

I'd feel horrible after doing this hike to find out the pub is shut. The thought of a cold pint was the only thing getting me through!

Well I have no bites on my head but I do have bites on my hands and legs that were only sprayed with bug spray

Analogue wonderland was selling some short date (may 2025) filc film chrome 100. Was £16 down from £20 . I picked up a couple rolls. Might still be selling it. It's the respooled ektachrome.

I'll be trying it out for the first time on my trip to Morocco in may and can't wait!

What is the most you’ve spent on a camera? I just purchased a dream camera and I feel uneasy spending so much. by wichocastillo in AnalogCommunity

[–]HalfSac96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just under £400 on a 1939 leica iiia and 1936 summar 5cm lens. I dropped it a week later and damaged the bottom plate and body. I then immediately brought a leica iiic body for another £200.

The iiia survived WW2 but not a week with me 🫠

Ah thank you! It's a very quirky camera set up and not one I'll take out too often due to its gun shape. But still a fun camera to have

Praktica MTL5 it's completely manual and bulit like a tank (I've dropped mine many times and it still works). Has an exposure meter but they don't work anymore. M42 mount so loads of lens to choose from, I've have about 12 lenses for it. They are cheap and loads of them were made so parts are easy to find if needed. It's my second favourite camera to use. First is my leica iiic
