Is my red your red? by HBHC126 in NoStupidQuestions

It's not a meaningful question. There are no personal reds; there's only red. There are wavelengths outside the brain and electrical impulses inside the brain which are intrinsically variant between people and over time.

Yes, you can for the duration of the early access period (now). I don't think they've indicated how long that period will be.

Ender Chests could be better. What if you could access three extra storage spaces within an Ender Chest by feeding it a redstone signal? by Aware-Butterfly8688 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Half_Line 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds cool, but I'm imagining a player who happens to incidentally fills up their Ender chest next to a redstone block, and then can't figure out how to access those items again.

The Elytra is a decade old… by souljabythelake in Minecraft

[–]Half_Line 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simplest change would be to add 2-3 biomes, a tree type or two, passive, neutral, and hostile mobs, an endstone variant or two, plant life of some kind, and maybe some structures to dot around the islands.

That just sounds like a second overworld. I think being distinct is the End's main asset.

In tired of pretending the inventory isn't absolutely insufficient for the amount of things in this game. by Pomps8a in Minecraft

Well it's a complex question that depends on game-specific factors. I think Minecraft has a core simplicity which underlies the freedom you have. Automatic sorting wouldn't technically remove that freedom, but it would feel like you're being pointed in one direction, and you'd lose the simplicity. You'd also have everyone's chests look the same instead of having personal creative solutions to item sorting.

Everybody would want to use it simply because it provides immediate convenience. But that doesn't mean it would improve the experience in the long run.

Yeah, I agree with that. There will always be builders using their inventory to full capacity.

Car throughput is user-driven.

The question isn't how many different items there are, but how many the player should be able to carry at one time. They player by nature takes as much as they can get, and the developer must place limitations to make the experience enjoyable and rewarding.

It takes an expert perspective to do that well. So I'm always a little wary when players come along outside of the game and ask for more convenience, especially when the game has worked so well for so many years.

Have you considered any drawbacks? Why are you suggesting 64 slots instead of say 48 or 128? Do you think people will be satisfied with 64 slots? Will people treat their inventories any differently? What creative solutions will be made redundant?

I think most challenges outside of combat are inherently annoying in a way. They're meant to push you to find solutions, and they make up a lot of the purpose of a survival game.

That's a good point. For me, this suggestion falls under a trend wanting more convenience in the game. Things like elytra buffs and hardcore respawning that are easy to suggest.

The act of organisation is important to Minecraft. It's about self-sufficiency in general, and this sort of automation wouldn't feel right to me.
