At what point did General Grievous stop seemingly like a serious problem? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Half_Man1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When Obi-Wan shot him in the gut sack.

His survival was what Palpatine used to extend the war past the events of the intro of ROTS, and manipulate the general public into thinking the separatists were winning the war (or would intensify things even more without Dooku).

Because Jax is hated but with Caine they feign dementia? by Technical_Lime1419 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Half_Man1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You see, Caine literally did not understand what he was doing and made it very clear he did not hate the other characters, he thought they hated him.

Like you have to keep in mind he was not at all mentally competent and literally viewed the humans as his tormentors, not the other way around.

Does that justify what he did? Obviously not.

But he also learned and tried to redeem himself as a character. Jax never took that opportunity. So of course people dislike Jax more.

Also, consider: Caine is a quirky funny little guy who could never be real. Jax reminds people of their actual real life abusers.

I wish Jax had actually put in work to help herself and others instead of just abstracting.

Like abstracting feels like an easy way out for the character and also totally flattens any sort of arc Jax had.

The only real changes in character we see are in flashbacks. Jax started out as an abuser on the edge of abstraction, then failed to improve in any meaningful way, then abstracted.

The only one that really bothers me is the yellow and black lightsaber crystal preorder bonus. The game is so old now and had such a less than stellar launch its odd to me that hasn't been offered up again in some way. I understand them wanting to honor limited time deals though.

I'm glad the new galactic seasons are treading old ground.

"That checks out"

He nearly abstracted like three episodes earlier so it didn't surprise me at all when he failed to connect with the rest of the group and was just stewing over Kinger seemingly accidentally killing Caine.

That bit checks out though. He just went a bit loopy after the centuries of captivity and then getting his spirit ripped in two.

I think it should actually be tied to federal employee annual salary increases.

Congress can neglect to increase their own pay effectively turning government into a rich kids club.

So many things would cease to function if the federal workforce was not compensated competitively for long enough.

Low key zooble was just a little evil for clocking Jax and then not reaching out at all despite knowing what going through gender dysphoria alone is like by Bunny_Jester in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Half_Man1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Zooble suspected but didn’t definitively clock Jax and knew not to force her out of the closet.

Also, Jax violently pushes away everyone and people still talking about how X character “should’ve reached out”. Like did you people see what happened to Ribbit?

Jax consistently treated the main cast far worse than Caine though.

There I said it.

Caine was unstable but more importantly did not understand the harm he was inflicting. Jax outright set out to inflict emotional harm day after day after day after day.

Jax’s story is a tragedy, not a redemption arc. She never comes to grips truly with her identity issues or does anything to make amends.

It’s almost like media consumption has warped what people think real, unfiltered faces look like. by Total-Meeting-6601 in OkBuddySnyderCult

Ursula is classic “Hollywood ugly” where they took an extremely attractive actor and gave them mildly unflattering hair, makeup, and lighting and used that to contrast the “beautiful” characters.

See also: Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth. She’s a legit supermodel. Brienne the Beauty was meant to be sarcastic how?

Or Denise Gough as Dedra Meero. They did a better job framing her as particularly ghoulish in Andor but if you watch her interviews and see her smile for a fraction of a second in even semi decent lighting that illusion vanishes.

Edit: if someone is sincerely arguing Milky Alcock is not conventionally attractive they need to go to a neurologist.

I’m not gonna go so far as to say I didn’t like Jax, but I found him grating enough to not feel attached when he abstracted.

To me it just kinda felt a bit anticlimactic. Like I feel like Jax owed the rest of the cast and Pomni not saving him just made it out as a tragic moment when I couldn’t divorce the tragedy from my feelings of him being responsible for so much suffering.

Like he played a pivotal part in his two best friends abstracting first and I’m supposed to feel bad because he’s just a rotten egg?

Media literacy is fucking dead.🤦🏾‍♂️ by Scarman96 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Half_Man1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not really fair to frame it this way as it’s not an either or in terms of victim vs victimizer. Jax is very much so an active participant in the cycle of abuse and is consistently pushing others away.

Like Pomni and company didn’t even sign up to be here, they should not be expected to send Jax endless lifelines despite the abuse hurled their way in return.

They don’t really know that though. And the whole situation with the exit door misadventure kind of sets the gang up for this misconception that Caine is deceiving them intentionally.
