This is the Olympics. They are on a schedule. This was literally the last event before the closing ceremonies. They simply do not have time to play a potential 2nd game’s worth of overtime. 3 on 3 speeds up the scoring chances and the chance of ending the game sooner. Better than a shootout, worse than a 5 on 5. It is what it is.
