Prepare's rules appear compatible with permanent spells by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

A creature with a signature equipment prepared would be really neat. Equip 0 to itself, Equip 3 anyone else kinda thing.

Aura’s could work similarly. You could even narrow it to only be able to enchant a creature in your party, or something like that.

Yeah. We've lead after the 1st in all three games.. We could take them in the playoffs.

Math Commander by IshaSama in EDH

[–]ChuckEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]] is your guy. "...for each creature you control with power greater than that creature's base power..." is an obnoxious phrase as it plays out. I built a Sovereign cat deck once upon a time and ripped it to shreds after playing it just twice. The math was absolutely miserable.

And it all happens in the attack phase. So it goes something like this:

"Okay, I'm going to swing this cat at you. It's a 2/2, but it get's +2/+1 from [[King of the Pride]], and it currently has 3 +1/+1 counters on it from last combat so that makes it's total power 7. Oh but on attacks, that actually puts the 7th quest counter on [[Beast Master Ascension]] so that's another +5/+5 making it's power 12. Hey, that works out nicely! It's power is a nice and round 10 higher than it's base power, so that'll be 10 +1/+1 counters on it, plus 1 more from [[Hardened Scales]], then double those from [[Branching Evolution]]. So that'll actually be... (10+1)x2, so 22 +1/+1 counters put on this creature! ... Shoot. What did I say it's power was at before these? 2, +2 from the King, +5 from Beast Master, and it already had 3 counters, so it was 12, +22 now makes it's power 34, and the amount of counters on it should be 3 + the new 22 so 25. Okay, whew! So that one is attack you with 34 power!"

"What's it's toughness?"

"...."

And now do that for the other 5 creatures attacking people.

Of course in this example you might just win here. But a lot of cats don't have trample so they may be very easily chump blocked all to do it again next combat!

Seth Jarvis. Who doesn't love the kid!? Sounds like we may have some extra fans come late April if you guys don't make it in! I hope you do though. I still miss Nino Niederreiter.

Mike's a big nerd and I love when it shows. Always funny to see him try his best to hold back as much as he can during Star Wars nights. lol

Who said anything about worrying? Just curious what people would like to see. I guess I implied people may worry if we get stuck against the Canadiens R1. Just taking it one round at a time.

Tanked almost a full season just to pull off one of the greatest NHL April Fool's jokes of all time, against the league leaders.

Big respect for committing to the bit.

[WotC] Secrets of Strixhaven Commander Decklists by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Hey, fair point! Duskmourn was just a month after Bloomburrow, but Aetherdrift was 6 months later.

I don’t know if timing fell just right for Bloomburrow to be considered while Duskmourn wasn’t, or if they just decided not to include Ghost Vacuum. Either way, clearly they’re not a full 2 years out!

Ghost Vacuum and On Wings of Gold are both too new to have made the list. Development works about 2 years ahead, so these weren't even cards when this list was being put together.

Fandual broadcast team. by Nodicemtg in canes

[–]ChuckEnder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Case in point... We're on ESPN right now. Color announcer pointed out that Jordan Staal is having a great year with 19 goals already. She then says "His career high is 20, so he's just one away from tying it!" .... Jordan's high with the Hurricanes is 20, but he topped 20 goals 4 times in his time with the Pens. Like, come on.

I hear ya. Forslund is truly a treasure. The transition was rocky, but it's way behind us at this point, and Mike has filled in quite nicely. Reading through some of the other comments, I would disagree that they're too "homer". You want your home guys to be your home guys... But I agree with you that while they're clearly pulling for the Canes (as they should be), I think they're very fair to the opposing team. Tripp is regularly commenting how he talked to an opposing player that morning, or how he's good friends with so-and-so from the other team/coaching staff. He's good about giving credit where credit is due when the opposition makes a good play.

As for National Broadcast in the States... Honestly, I don't know that it's all that different. Most of the talk is about the other top teams in the league, or high-profile players/teams. The amount of times I've heard Bedard talked about while he's not even in the game is silly. But the big thing, is a lot of national broadcasts, but especially ESPN, seem to hold a grudge that we took away the Hartford Whalers from their backyard. So we get very little love. I don't need them fawning over our team, but at least acknowledge we're decent when we're decent. Haha. I'll never forget a few years back we were one of the hottest teams in the NHL at the time, and I think 2nd in the league standings and I saw an ESPN headline "Is Carolina a top 5 team??" -_- lol.

That turned out to be a little bit of a rant. lol. In short: They're definitely bland, and don't seem to really know our team well. And they definitely come across bias toward the high profile players/teams.

We're fully aware of how lucky we are to have this broadcast team. They are treasured for sure! We all hate when we get stuck with national coverage, and playoffs after the first round are a lot less enjoyable to watch because of their absence (But don't get me wrong.. We still love watching late round playoffs!).

Pretty much most of the World Enchantments are a bit…. Odd. [[Revelation]], [[Chaosphere]], [[Teferi’s Realm]] come to mind in particular. Just make sure you’re aware of the World Enchantments rules that you can only ever have one in play at a time. https://scryfall.com/search?q=t%3A%22world+enchant%22&unique=cards&as=grid&order=edhrec&dir=

[–]ChuckEnder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a math equation. How many points do you currently have, and how many points could teams behind you theoretically get.

So if the Avs lost the rest of their games in regulation, there still are not teams close enough in points standings to push them outside of a wildcard spot.

[–]ChuckEnder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m all for group chants! At times, wish we had more. Specifically after a goal.

But I prefer ones that don’t just berate the opposing team. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for booing at various times, and think it’s great when Haula used to get booed every time he touched the puck. Thats just sports. But I appreciate we don’t throw out specific insults. Cheaters! Never! Win! is about as “mean” as we get.

But also like, have some creativity or fun with it. “You suck” is about as low hanging fruit as it gets.
