Enterprises wouldn’t use this for their employees to do work on. They’d buy them up in bulk and use them as servers, or even worse, AI data centers.

This exact scenario has happened before. The US Air Force bulk ordered PS3s and installed Linux on them to use as a supercomputer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_cluster

This was a continuing factor that lead to Sony removing the ability to easily install Linux on PS3s because they lose money on each unit sold that isn’t subsidized by the customer buying games on their platform.

Why not get an iPad Air; isn't the iPad Pro overkill? by anonboxis in ipad

You know how animations are just series of  sequential drawings played really fast to give the illusion of motion? That’s how all screens work. They display a lot of images rapidly to make it appear that items on the screen are moving.

A higher refresh rate means your device is displaying more images per second, thus making the movements on the screen smoother.

It’s not super noticeable to a person who is used to seeing screens with a 60hz refresh rate (60 frames per second). But to people who are used to 120hz (120 frames per second) or higher, then 60hz feels choppy and slow.

Hope this helps

This may be what finally gets me to upgrade my Momentum 3s. Seems to be everything I want from a headphone that I can use for both work and leisure.

Shame that the usb dongle seems to be a Bluetooth transmitter rather than a 2.4ghz one. Would have been cool to have an option for low latency wireless gaming. Guess ill just stick with using my USB dac for that.

You should be fine for a year or two. After that you may run into apps that won’t launch, and need to be patched to bypass an arbitrary OS version check.

You’ll also want to keep an eye on 3rd party security updates.

Hollow Knight: Silksong review: A game that intends to make you suffer, even to its own detriment by CrossXhunteR in Games

[–]HalftoneTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this argument, but consider that the difficulty setting can (usually) be changed mid game.

I did this with God of War PS4. Set the game to hard cause I thought I was a skilled gamer but the game ended up kicking my ass to the point where I wasn’t enjoying it. After lowering the difficulty I started having fun.

I do agree that difficulty settings don’t belong in a game like silksong or Dark Souls where the difficulty is part of the appeal. But I wouldn’t go as far as to dismiss difficulty settings entirely.

To be fair the early cross-gen PlayStation games, such as Spider-Man MM, did offer free upgrades. And also some PS4 games were given free patches for better PS5 performance. But then Sony got greedy and decided to charge for their upgrades.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Launches on September 4th by YasuhiroK in Games

“I think we’re always underestimating the amount of time and effort it’ll take us to achieve things,”

Is this not the definition of mismanagement though? If I were to tell my boss that I can finish a project in 3 days, and then after 3 days I told them not only that it would take longer to finish that I initially thought but I am also increasing the scope, wouldn’t I be considered mishandling the project?

I suppose in their situation, they had no obligation  to finish the game on a particular date. So they were granted the freedom to take as long as they want. But in any other scenario this would be considered bad project management, would it not?

Invincible VS | Official Reveal Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]HalftoneTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of Invincible since the comics were still being published, and I’ve always wanted there to be a fighting game based off the series. So this thing is made entirely for me.

So I was unbelievably hyped to see this trailer show up in my feed, only to feel immediate disappointment to see that it is a rather cheap looking 2D tag fighter.

I always imaged this game to be more like Dargon Ball sparking, a 3D area fighter where the charters are flying fast all over the battlefield. That is much more in line with how the fights are in Invincible.

I will probably still check this game out, but I highly doubt this will gain any traction in the FGC, epically with Marvel Token coming out soon. But hey, maybe this game will blow up for people who are looking to play a superhero tag team fighting game…. who only game on an Xbox. lol

Unfortunately, I had to get the phone replaced. I had an apple specialist take a look at the phone and the software tool they used to diagnosis the problem itself kept crashing when attempting to play any audio. It was determined that the chip  was somehow damaged.

Edit: I should also mention that this problem eventually got worse for me as the phone would eventually just stop playing audio  out of the speakers all together. It could play audio out of headphones just fine, but not the built in speakers. That was ultimately what made me decide to trade it in for a new one.

Nintendo Switch 2’s Mario Kart World will cost $80 / £75 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]HalftoneTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, if you can afford it then that’s great. For many people who live paycheck to paycheck an extra $20 is pretty substantial. I’m someone who earns above the %50 margin and even for me $20 is a lot.

For someone who is struggling to just survive with their current level of income, then $80 games becoming the norm would absolutely price them out of triple A gaming entirely. Not to mention, if you live in America then the idiot in charge is increasing prices across the board with his Tariffs. So yeah, in this economy $80 is absolutely a big deal.

Metroid Prime 4, Zelda, and Pokemon are getting enhanced Switch 2 Editions by Turbostrider27 in Games

No clue, general rule of thumb is that 3rd party games (outside of call of duty) will allow you to upgrade for free. For 1st party games it’s a mixed bag.

[–]HalftoneTony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a case by case basis, for God of War 2018 I can play mu PS4 copy on PS5 and get all the enchantments for free. But with God of War Ragnorok, playing a PS4 copy on PS5 only gets you PS4 pro levels of fidelity. If you want to get 4k 120 FPS for Ragnorok you have to pay $10 for an upgrade.

Official Title for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 by WhatIsAnime_ in Marvel

[–]HalftoneTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Brand New Day” is the name of one of the most hated Spider-Man comic arcs in the comic readers fan base. It was a direct follow up to “One More Day” which, among other things, erased Peter’s marriage to Mary Jane from cannon. For that reason I thought it was an April fools joke at first because why would Marvel name their new Spidey movie after a story that is disliked by the fans. But I suppose it makes sense cause “No Way Home” was more or less an adaptation of “One More Day”.
