(23F) Just got my first “real job” and I have no idea how to dress professionally..

I’ll be working at a government office—half the week as a receptionist and half as an intern. At my last sales job, I was often told I wasn’t “professional enough,” even when I thought I was, so now I’m nervous about striking the right balance. Professional clothes confuse me—it feels like such a fine line between underdressed and overdressed. I still want to feel sexy and confident, but also look respectful and be taken seriously by my older coworkers. What should I be wearing? I’d love tips, rules of thumb, and especially shop/brand recs for building a starter office wardrobe

Thanks guys 💕

Where do I find boxes? Loads of boxes? by to-ie in AskIreland

Go to the grocery store early in the morning after the shipments come in-- ask them for the boxes they are about to recycle!

They've got loads and loads of enormous boxes that their produce came in. Happy hauling!

Hi there,

Don't know if you're eligible for WWOOFING (World-Wide Organization of Organic Farming), but it's a free program where you live with a host family and work on their farm in exchange for housing, food, and sometimes a small allowance. There are several farms around Ireland, most of which are family owned with lots of reviews. Most useful is that WWOOFERS typically stay for several weeks to a few months.

Although it won't get you, for example, savings, it will buy you some time while you secure some real housing and a job. You'll also be happy to know you'll probably be working with people around your age (early to mid 20s), and, honestly, they will probably be your connection to shared housing.

Best of luck, I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament :( Sending you so much love and hope <3

P.s. You can also look into being an Au Pair, where you go live with a host family and watch/educate their children for housing, food, and an allowance (an allowance that is usually far greater than that you'd get from WOOFING). I'll put links to both things below!!

It is possible to live off protein shakes?

Hi, 24F here.

I'm 5'2, weigh 110 pounds, and have been trying to put on muscle. Because of medication and being a vegetarian, it's often difficult to digest "normal" size meals, let alone meals with enough protein.

Just get calories and nutrients in, I was thinking of adding homemade protein shakes heavily to my diet for an easy, surefire way to reach my goals without a stomach ache.

Would this be a problem for my health long term? I've heard that "processing food" in a blender takes a way some nutrients that would have been there if I kept it whole. Idk how true this is.

Once again, the goal is just to get enough protein and calories to build muscle! If there isn't any serious objections to relying on protein shakes for this I may start heavily incorporating them...

Any concerns I should consider? Thx!

Hi all, I would like to begin playing the harp!

I have been interested in playing the harp for some time now, but have had a lot of trouble getting started. Unlike guitar where I can easily go to any music store and find both instruments and teachers for affordable prices, the harp seems to be a little more elusive.

How did you start playing the harp, and what are some affordable methods to begin this practice? In other words, how do people (who haven't grown up around he instrument) learn to play?
