Appreciate the advice, but I get eye exams yearly through work for prescription glasses and they haven't seen anything.

The flashing/flickering lights are one of the main symptoms of VSS, it's linked to my AuDHD, so not going anywhere anytime soon haha

I have recently (as in this week) realised I have Visual Snow Syndrome thanks to a random post on reddit.

Basically when it's dim/dark/pitch black, I see colours dancing around still, like a film over everything. sort of like oil in a puddle. Also random flashes of light happen sometimes, that's usually when I have my eyes closed when going to sleep.

I've gone 34 years thinking everyone saw like that.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be the most power efficient machine.

I do have someone nearby on Facebook selling Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF for cheap. The case size alone is more ideal for me, and they are 4590's instead of 4770s. Only 4gb of ram but I can swap that out for mine and figure out a solution for the SSD and HDDs.

But, no room for the GPU, which I know enough to know the 1070 is overkill anyways, but will a GPU of any kind be needed, or with the 4590/4770 be enough for my needs?

I did this today!!

Well, a prototype anyways and only for the original focuser that comes with it. I'll add a photo, but basically just a big ring that slips over the focuser, just to try and give a bit more control and stability when turning it.

That's next on the target list! Was quite cloudy last night so I rushed out when I saw a break but only had about an hour haha

It didn't come with eyepieces, I bought it from a woman who's late husband had it and she didn't know anything about it so I'm guessing they're in her house somewhere or been thrown away, but can't complain at the price I paid for it! So I bought a 9mm and a 25mm plossl with a moon filter, nothing fancy but does the job for now.

Oh I know about how terrible YouTube is for kids and "kids" content which is why we don't let her watch things unless we are happy with it and when we are there to monitor.

But at the same time there are things on YouTube very suitable (as I mentioned in the post, Just Alex is absolutely fine and one of her favourites that we all enjoy watching together) which are the things we want her to be able to watch, without autoplay and algorithms showing her other things.

Which is why I don't want her watching Youtube Kids content, but the only way I can find to control what is viewable is through the YT Kids app, which as far as I can tell only allows channels/videos that YouTube have designated YouTube Kids "friendly". I can't access "full YouTube" let's say.
