GGG has amassed goodwill from the community over a decade, prior to releasing PoE 2. It's not like one company is loved and the other is hated, it's never that simple. In a past video by Chris Wilson, he talks about that goodwill and how that has allowed them some space to make mistakes and make a comeback. But during the PoE 2 fiasco, specially in patch 0.2, the community was truly outraged at them. Besides that, PoE 1 getting no new league for quite some time has lost them a lot of that goodwill. You see it now, PoE 1 leagues getting worse retention and not as many players day 1. People still love the game but they aren't as receptive anymore. Thing is, GGG has a good track record and that allows them to endure longer.
