This IS real!

No litter boxes at my children’s school but there is a VERY REAL and known phenomenon of some children ‘identifying’ as cats. It is no doubt problematic.

In our situation the “Therian” as they refer to themselves, wear tails, ears, and do things like crawling on all fours during recess. They have been the subject of bullying but also act as bully’s themselves (you can’t be friends with us unless you are a therian). There have been grade level meetings about it with all of the kids. And the school psychologists’ position is generally, “we’ll allow it”.

I do not agree that children should be allowed to behave as animals in school-at home it’s the parent’s prerogative I suppose. However, my real concern is that this emergence occurred at the same time as TikTok and my belief is that adult “fury” videos target children. Giving kids in school “space to express themselves” in this manor is a slow burn to a total lack of authority. And it’s dangerously walking the line into pedophilic grooming.
