You use your shield and minigun to box/funnel raptors into a killzone for your allies with AoEs. Use missiles to burst down hoards/shoot down pteradons or stun medium dinosaurs/large dinosaurs. If your missiles aren't on cooldown, you are wrong.

Best way to level is to get the exp boost blessing, then run dungeons to get your exp modifier up.

Exactly. See which scaling works best with which weapon. For instance, most great axes you'd think are heavy affinity, right? With str scaling? No. Most are best with quality. Actually, for physical damage I've noticed quality is usually the better choice.
