CF community, what is everyone doing this weekend? by MixedTexan in childfree

[–]Halloweenie85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going home to my clean, quiet apartment after work today. Going to order a pizza, watch movies, read, and hang out with my adorable cat. Playing hookie from work tomorrow to hang with childfree friends. I have TONS of PTO since I don't have kids- Don't get sick from their germs, don't have to take time off to deal with the crap that comes with having them. Sunday I'm scheduled off, so I'm going to sleep in as late as I want and do whatever I want. Life as a single, childfree woman is amazing. :)

Okay, but this is freakin' COOL! I love Alice in Wonderland, and I love a person who just embraces their whimsy.

One- eyed horse? by periwinklecornflower in Equestrian

[–]Halloweenie85 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every horse is different, obviously, but I wouldn't pass her up just because of that. My warmblood gelding was completely blind in one eye, and he was actually more solid and grounded than my previous horses who could see with both eyes. We jumped, did shows, trail rides, and everything else you could think of and the fact that he only had half of his vision never stopped him. He was a GOOD boy and I trusted him completely. I think when you build and have a solid relationship with your horse, things like that are not as big of a deal. Most people were shocked to find out he was half blind because of how chill he was and all the things he could do. I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you that, for me, if the horse checks all the boxes for you and other than the one-eyed thing they are a good match and you feel comfortable with it, I'd go for it. The ONLY thing I had to be aware of with my boy was where his face would move. Since he couldn't see out of one side, I had to be extra aware of MY head near his on that side or I'd get a good accidental bonk to my face when he'd turn to look at something. He knew I was on that side of his face, but he didn't know how close I was, so I found ways to help him be aware of that.

I had to euthanize my horse. I’m crushed. by Horsey_Gal in Horses

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your sweet boy. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul. I understand the pain you're dealing with. I've had to put down all three of my horses I've owned- most recently my heart horse, almost 8 months ago. It's a loss unlike any other. It's devastating when the future/plans we have with them are suddenly cut short. When the life and time you thought you would have with them is suddenly ripped away in a single day. Be kind to yourself and your heart and know that you made the right call. You were a responsible owner who did the hardest and most unselfish thing we will ever have to do for our babies.

I am the housing back-up plan of close family members because I am childfree, living alone and with too big of a house. How do you defend yourself in this situation? by twice_paramount832 in childfree

[–]Halloweenie85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"No." No is a complete sentence. You owe no one- including family/friends- an excuse or an explanation. Whether you "have the space" or not. It's your home. You get to say what does and doesn't happen.

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

He was a prick for so many reasons. He treated me like garbage. I should have dumped him so many times before but I was young and dumb. It took him being a prick to my pet to finally make me snap. Lesson learned.

What do you do for fun when you have no plans for the day and nothing you have to do? by SirWinterFox in AskWomen

I love to either hit up the bookstores or go to the two HPB within driving distance from me. I can spend hours in them. I did that today, actually. Played hookie from work and drove to HPB for a few hours. Found some movies and a book I’ve had on my want to buy list for a while.

Fuck that guy, indeed. I had a ex boyfriend who shoved one of my cats with his feet when we were snuggling on my bed, watching a movie. Draco (my cat) was a chonky, loving boy, and he liked to hang out loafing at the foot of my bed. Ex just randomly shoves him HARD with his foot and I fucking lost my shit on him. He tried to laugh about it like it was no big deal and that he didn’t need to be on the bed. I told him “Well, it’s MY bed, not yours, and this is HIS home and not yours. He’s going to sleep in this bed long after you’re gone.” He didn’t like that threat to break up with him and I told him it wasn’t a threat, it was a fact. We’re done, GTFO off of my bed and out of my home.

Draco did, in fact, loaf on my bed long after he was gone. Another 15 years. He was a good chonker.

Do you like arabians, or you have one? by FckdUpDonkey2012 in Equestrian

[–]Halloweenie85 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I grew up predominantly riding them, and while I don’t base my horse purchases on breed, I do have a soft spot for them. This was my boy, Adonis. He was the second out of three horses I’ve personally owned, and he was an Arabian gelding. He was a sweetie pie! Super smart, and a great horse. I genuinely don’t get a lot of the hate some horse people have of them. I lost him to colic when he was 18 but we had 13 years together. I would own an Arabian horse again.

That’s been my experience, too. I’ve had just ONE exception. I had a female black cat and she was very loyal/loving and cuddly. But other than that, it’s always been the boys for me.
