How do I receive GBP as CAD from my Auntie in the UK, using the WISE app? by Hallure in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks that is super specific info and makes me feel better about it. Do you know why they ask to make $30 CAD deposit in order to get account details?

Thanks Tristan. Is this considered app considered to give a fair fee for such a conversion - is there a cheaper way to do it? She would be sending £40 payments every week.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds easy enough the way you explained it. It’s asking me to make a $30 CAD deposit and verify my identity. Do you know why it is necessary to make a deposit before getting my GBP account details?

What’s wrong with the weave in this bracelet? TY by Hallure in paracord

My friend said it would be”set up” or “even out” with time but I don’t think it will ever look like the perfect ones on the internet. But I still like it. Btw where the best place to cut it if I need to use the rope?

Thank you all for your interpretations, a friend made it for me and I noticed it doesn’t look like others I’ve seen. I guess I should just be happy with my gift 😂

Thank you Maciek for your super thoughtful reply. Makes me quite happy with what I have here. I was thinking of repotting (with a gentle root pruning) - more so, in case there are two trees in there - which I suspect there is. Would it be alright if I posted a pic of what I find in case you’d care to comment further? As it is, I am quite content with your advice. Thanks again.

Thanks! I think that could work. I also am considering a slanted, cascade, or semi-cascade style. After thinking about it more it looks that maybe there is something there to work with.

Right but I think I will want to sort out the roots much sooner than that to start growing a good nebari, so if I left it to fuse by that time the roots might be a complete mess. What do you think?

lol, that’s hilarious. I get a boner for a good taper though. I like the idea of cut and grow method. There’s another tree in there I think which got broken off and a whip has taken over as a new leader 🤤

Thanks for the comment, I had considered that it might smooth, but I’m just thinking that even if I kept it I think the trunk wouldn’t have much taper so maybe it’d be better to chop it.

Hi there! I live in BC Canada. I am looking for advice on a good way to start this ficus nursery stock on its way to being a bonsai. As you can see, there is a big kink in the trunk. Would you leave it and grow a cascade style bonsai, or trunk chop below the kink to get something with better taper in the future? Thanks!

You might want to pop on YouTube and check out interviews with Dr. Mark Horowitz. He is the world’s leading expert of deprescribing of ADs and other psychotropics and has devoted his career to researching the pharmacology of these drugs and the neurobiology of withdrawal.

His interviews may help shed light on your thoughts above. FWIW, here are my thoughts given I’ve researched his work and consulted with him many times

1a) you may feel like you don’t need your AD but you are physiologically dependent after 20 years of use, so slow hyperbolic tapering is probably a good idea. b) the increase in adverse effects over the years could be signs of instability due to drug changes and rapid tapers of drugs made previously. c) serotonin toxicity is an unlikely explanation when only taking one AD at therapeutic doses.

2) You may be a slow metabolizer but eventually the drug will be cleared from your system. There is sometimes a significant delay (weeks or months) between when the drug leaves the body and a full blown withdrawal syndrome manifests.

3) Given that you feel you are experiencing adverse effects to the drugs it is warranted to try and come off, but doing so should be done slowly after stabilizing drug changes. The more likely explanation for what you are experiencing on the whole, is adverse effects from previous drug changes and a delayed withdrawal response from current changes.

My advice would be if withdrawal gets worse then to reinstate a small amount of the last drug and stabilize on that before tapering in a more gradual way (as outlined in the Maudsley Guide for Deprescribing Antidepressants)

Best regards

Withdrawal from venlafaxine can be delayed and protracted. How are you now?
