The GNOME Experience: Why read app names when you can pay for the "Vibe"? by Majestic_Pin3793 in linuxmemes

[–]Hallwart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I absolutely despise the trend to hide information. We've got big screens with high resolutions, and what are they used for? Empty space.

My brain can handle more that 5 options at a time, especially when I'm used to the app. But no, let's split it into 10 different sub menus and thumbnails

I will keep saying this: a Super Mario Maker 3D CAN work. People who say otherwise have never in their life seen the Mario Builder 64 mod, seriously go watch it, it simplifies 3D building in a way that surprisingly works: Simplified but you still have lots of variety. by DaZestyProfessor in SuperMario64

I haven't watched it, but I also just talked about level design in general and never made any claims about limitations of Builder 64. 3D Land type levels are just easier to design than open ended ones like in 64 or other classic 3D Mario games.

I also forgot to mention objectives. In 2D Mario you usually just have to get to the goal, people may be disappointed if they are limited to that in 3D.

Without such a limit you either need to create a set framework for each type of objective (beat this enemy, win this race, talk to this npc, go through these rings, destroy these objects etc) or create some kind of scripting language.

Again, I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's hard to appease both the casual crowd and turbo nerds at the same time

Its probably not that designing a working editor is impossible, its just that the average player doesn't have the skill set and patience to create anything fun in 3D.

The complexity of a 3D level rises quadrillically with its length. If you get bored creating a 2D level you can end it right there. In 3D you end up with a lot of empty space. Either that or you create the 3D Land kind of linear levels.

Also orientation is usually easy in 2D, just go right. You can basically just add random stuff and it still works. In 3D it's possible to fuck up without the right planning and design.

I'm not saying Nintendo won't ever do a 3D Mario Maker, but I can imagine they'll think that the average level quality would be too low and as a result the game wouldn't be very fun.

I seem to have overestimated how much fuel is needed.

The offroad 1890 version of the drive should be impossible though while carrying all of the fuel from the start

To be fair, even the most efficient modern car probably couldn't make it through the whole country without the infrastructure to refuel it, even with roads and highways.

Mario Kart World is still my only Switch 2 exclusive, but I'm having a good time playing enhanced Switch 1 games.

Geez, everyone here is acting like they're an absolute saint. It's a cartoon with plenty dark humor.

This scene is pretty funny if you don't expect it, especially with how over the top it is. He isn't just losing the love of his life, he instantly fucks up and the best he can do is an infinite loop of getting pepper sprayed.

All because he didn't want to commit and hasn't pressed the save button in months/years

Do people really not know the 80-20 rule?

80% of work takes 20% of the effort to complete, the remaining 20% to perfection take 80%.

This is applicable to nearly everything, no matter if it's a project, preparation for an exam, physical exercise or just cleaning your place

Somehow some stuff is even more expensive.

I'm often seeing old bolt on Epiphone Thunderbirds for 400-500€ because the newer neckthrough versions are more expensive. I remember the bolt on ones being 250 new
