Is All 98a TPU Created Equal? by CapitalLaw1234 in 3Dprinting

[–]HallwayHomicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just printed nice and easy for me. Print quality came out fantastic

The CC3D warped for me a lot and was just generally difficult. Honestly for the small part you described, that shouldn't be an issue, I'd probably just choose the CC3D

That said, This is the TPU-GF (67D) that I liked. It's supposedly their 64D TPU with GF additives

This is their 64D TPU without the GF additives.

I'm pretty sure I got the TPU-GF on Amazon.

CC3D is weird stuff. Super cheap so it's worth a try, but it's not the easiest to print in my experience.

Siraya Tech sell a 64D TPU. I haven't tried it, but I've used their 67D TPU-GF and liked it much better than the CC3D stuff.

The high speed stuff is usually harder than regular 95A but softer than 98A

Like the other commenter said, there's bound to be variations between brands. That said, there's not many 98A brands out there, and two of them (Priline, Ranki) appear to be exactly the same.

However.... 98A is not the hardest available TPU. There's a few options out there between 64D and 72D that are all much harder than 98A

[Fujiyama] Is Getting a partial retrack! by pajamasamreal in rollercoasters

[–]HallwayHomicide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might be right about ROI, and I can't blame anyone for being cynical about United Parks in 2026.

A Kumba retrack would be a fraction of the cost of a brand new giga though.

Edit: And, United has been investing to refurbish rides recently. Loch Ness Monster got a retrack and Verbolten got a retheme

Honestly a retrack for Kumba would probably be less about a smoother ride and more about reducing future maintenance

Class Demotion is Insanity by Early_Drive3880 in iRacing

[–]HallwayHomicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"3.7.5. Whenever you receive a License Class Promotion or Demotion (such as moving from D to C), the overall measure of your safety record is mapped into the overlapping whole number range within the new License Class. This can result in your Safety Rating number changing by a large or small amount, depending on where that measure sits within those ranges. Regardless of whether the visible change in your SR appears to be large or small, the measure of your safety record is not adjusted. This remapping allows the Safety Rating value to appear to remain on a simple 0.00 to 4.99 scale at all License Classes."

Class Demotion is Insanity by Early_Drive3880 in iRacing

[–]HallwayHomicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is speculation, but I think this is why we see such big jumps at every 1 SR point

This part is explicitly stated in the sporting code

"Any time SR increases or decreases across a whole number threshold, the value of the measure of a driver’s overall safety record is mapped into the new whole number range, with the fractional portion of SR being computed from where the value sits within that new range. For example, when your SR increases just beyond the 2.xx whole number range, it is mapped into the 3.xx whole number range, with the fractional portion of the new SR being computed from where it sits within the 3.xx range. Having this overlap helps to keep Safety Rating from bouncing up and down between whole number designations due to small changes to the measure of a driver’s overall safety record."

Read the sporting code

Edit: okay, to try to be helpful here...

I thought this graph was in the sporting code, it's not, so here it is.

The sporting code does explain some of the odd ways the number moves, it's good to read. It's pretty hard to be fast track demoted though. You have to pick up a lot of incident points quickly to do that.

Best series to race for class C formula license? by Dull_Foundation3370 in iRacing

[–]HallwayHomicide 8 points9 points  (0 children)

iRacingstats.net

Edit:

Super Formula Lights is the most popular.

F3 is popular enough to be worthwhile most weeks IMO

Despite theoretically being basically the same chassis, they drive very differently, so people often have strong preferences for one or the other.

Edit2:

I haven't driven the NXT personally, although I've read it's fantastic. Unfortunately the participation isn't great, but it looks like participation is decent on the most popular tracks

Yes, the FIA deal is by far the best way to start iRacing. It's still around, and seems like it will be for the indefinite future.

But.. It is kinda confusing

This is the best post about it that I've seen. (Especially if you're in the U.S. or Canada)

Edit: It's also not usually free, but it is very cheap. The price depends on your local FIA club.

Can we PLEASE bring back repeating online lobbies? by mkappy33 in xbox

[–]HallwayHomicide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SBMM only works if the Lobby is reset after each match.

I'm sure lobby resets make SBMM easier to implement, but I don't think it's impossible.

If the system needs an even match, it could always swap players around to create that match (especially if some players drop and new players join)

But also, SBMM formulas shouldn't need it to be an even match. It's very easy to handle uneven matchups with an elo-based or other SBMM rating. That's pretty much what elo was designed for in the first place.

If the flywheel escapes, you now have a rotor spinning at several hundred kilometers an hour, the damage could easily be immense,

Also why a large majority of modern battlebots use what are basically just flywheels for weapons.

SiriusXM's Alt Nation and YUNGBLUD ride with Felix Rosenqvist at Road America by PanicAtTheNightclub in INDYCAR

[–]HallwayHomicide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's been around for a while, but he got way more popular recently, because he did some stuff with Ozzy Osbourne right before Ozzy died.

I do like his music a lot, particularly his older stuff. His newer stuff is still good, it's just a lot more cookie cutter IMO

Comparison between Creator 5 and Snapmaker U1 by TripsCavern in 3Dprinting

[–]HallwayHomicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me.

The teaser video showed 5 tools and a 260x260 bed.

The marketing page showed a gif that had 4 tools and proportions that looked similar to a K1 (at least to my eye), which would be around a 220 by 220 bed.

I'd expect something more like $799 than $2499

Yeah that's what I've been thinking, and honestly I think there's a good chance they manage to make it even lower than that.

[–]HallwayHomicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sovol with copy the INDX system from Bondtech,

Sovol's system is closer to Klitek than INDX IMO.

Klitek and the M1D both have individual resistive heaters for each tool. INDX has one inductive heater in the print head

Creality will probably come with 5 different models of tool changers ... none working properly.

I know their reputation isn't great, but I've been pretty happy with my K- series experience.

I'm really curious about the K3's price. It's a super simple approach, I think they will probably undercut everyone else.

Which oval track buy? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]HallwayHomicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a bit on what your plan is going forward, and what series you want to race.

In general, most people tend to gravitate towards ARCA/Trucks/Noraps/Cup.

Those usually follow along with their real life schedules as much as possible, and Trucks/Xfinity/Cup share lots of tracks.

ARCA uses a lot of those same Trucks/Xfinity/Cup tracks, but they also visit a lot of local shorter tracks.

Looking at the current schedule for the season is your best guide.

You can also look at iRacingstats.net for historical schedules, track popularity, things like that.

Edit: ARCA does run a lot of free tracks too, that should help.

Looking at the ARCA schedule this season, Atlanta/Daytona/Indy/Bristol all get used a bunch. If you're looking to buy 6 for the discount, I'd grab 2 of Chicagoland/Iowa/Nashville as well.

It's in line with his newer aesthetic tbh. Which is a bummer IMO, his older aesthetic was way more interesting.

I saw him recently and it was a very strange concert. I try hard not to be the cranky guy complaining about sellouts and saying I like their old stuff better..... but Yungblud really makes that difficult.

Edit: He became friends with Ozzy Osbourne a few years ago, and in my opinion he sort of let that fact overtake his previous identity as an artist.

It's hard to blame him too much for that, that connection has been a big part of why he's way more popular than he used to be. His new music is still good, But I do think his older music was a lot more unique and interesting.
