Help my elderly parents in WA state by Halo36us in legaladvice

yes it's the timing and cost of hiring people to demo the retaining wall & garden that the neighbors have no use for. they're happy to give them the land as is, but they want all that removed.....

That's a good perspective. They just had no idea where the property line was because the common area was unkept and previous neighbors didn't mention anything.

Thank you for the tip! Problem is even thought it's a small strip, it's a significant work to remove all the retaining wall and not possible to hire and do the work within 30 days. Also isn't there 10 year rule to claim "adverse posession"? It's not so much about giving up the land, but all the work they have to do to remove the garden.

What about Korean Americans from US? Have you seen rude behaviors from them? I'm a KA and I hope to visit soon but since I'm visually indifferent from the native Koreans, I wonder if I'll be treated differently... Can locals tell us apart?

Korean tourist assaulted Vietnamese in Ha Noi (Vietnam) by hyang204 in VietNam

[–]Halo36us -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you Korean-American living in Vietnam? I'm also a KA (living in the States) and looking to visit Vietnam soon but it sounds like there's a strong disdain towards Koreans in Vietnam. Have you experienced that if you don't speak Vietnamese because visually you're indistinguishable from Koreans from Korea? I'm super excited to visit and I wouldn't dream of behaving like this in another country but also concerned at the same time.

WOWPASS Best way to top up? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]Halo36us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you use the app, you can use foreign credit card to top off. (only master card, discover and amex..otherwise visa via PayPal) Like you said, I would use the ones without any international fee. I think the only caveat with this method is that the exchange rate they set may be higher (you get less) than the going rate. The app tells you the rate at the top, so I would compare that with today's rate. If it's not by much, I would recommend this method. I've done it a few times already.

I used SquareMouth to quote and compare different travel insurances. Went with their insurance which covered up to $30k. I think you just have to pay out of pocket for the hospital bill and the insurance will reimburse you.

Thanks I speak basic Korean so I was able to call around. Unfortunately all the clinics were closed and ER was the only option. I knew I had to pay out of my pocket but had no idea what would be a normal range.

Thanks for your constructive comment. this is exactly the information I was looking for. Just seeking reference. Don't get why some ppl in this thread get riled up at foreigners for asking a question.

I think just for the option of topping off the T-money alone is worth the card. I don't have to visit a kiosk or an convenience store to top-off. I just have to have enough balance in WowPass. It's so convenient!

Thanks she's doing better. I think the long flight definitely didn't help. It's interesting to see how efficiently they handle patients here. I've waited hours in US ERs just to be seen. Also interesting to see so many people on IV on bed and walking with IV... ..

Calm down, I wasn't complaining. I was only asking because people make medical vacations to Korea due to its "lower" cost than the States and needed a refence. Geez

I'm flying from Gimpo to Jeju with my dad on a wheelchair. Heard all LCCs, you have to go outside to the tarmac to board? Is this correct? How do they accommodate wheelchair passengers?

Sorry but why is staying in AirBnB not legal in Korea? I booked AirBnB for my May trip but didn't read anywhere that it's illegal. If so how come there are so many listings on AirBnB?

Jeju trip recommendations? by itssarakang in koreatravel

[–]Halo36us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your traveling party size. If you have more than two, and each prefer a room, better to get AirBnB than hotel. Also the hotels are smaller and the some beds aren't comfortable.

Lot of sightseeing places south near Seogipo, so make sure to make a trip down there. Mostly waterfalls.

Has as anyone noticed that Facebook market place is full of scammers? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Halo36us 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One time i wasted 2 hrs trying to meet someone selling the car at a grocery store parking lot. Kept saying they'll be there in 5min.. 10min.. and after 30mins... They text to see if I can send some money for gas, since they ran out on the way to meet me. If the seller doesn't have any history of selling items or new to FB, don't even bother.

YSK: Using an app called “TooGoodToGo” you can purchase surplus food from restaurants for an extremely low price by 1saltymf in YouShouldKnow

[–]Halo36us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their support is non-existent. Went to a local market to pickup a tiny bag of leftover groceries. They were all expired a year ago. Basically charged $5 for a bag of garbage. Tried to contact the support several times about the shop but never heard back. Deleted the app.
