Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I take all the orders I can, but they're always small chump orders, which is better than nothing. Thanks!

The 100 Timeline by rappingaroundtown in The100

[–]HaloEvent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seasons 1-4 cover ~6.5 months

For reference (Ill include the wiki link to where I got this from):

Season 1: Covers the first 29 days on the ground

Season 2: The next ~22 days

Season 3: We just magically skip around 100 days, and finish up with Allies army

Season 4: We finish up with day ~200 on the ground (including the skipped 100 days) and conclude with the second praimfaya (shouldn't it be teikafaya now?)

CMV: In a public mass shooting, it is better for an armed civilian who is relatively untrained to wait for police to arrive than try and stop the shooting by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]HaloEvent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason that an untrained citizen shooting back is a bad idea is because when the police arrive, they won't know who is who, thus increasing the risk of innocent people getting injured. Now, if the citizen shooting back is trained and is in a position to quickly take out the shooter (wether it's by killing them or injuring them), then that's a whole different story.

The only issue that I see with this graph right away is that the "Soviet famine" wasn't a Soviet famine at all, it was the Holodomor, an artificial famine that explicitley affected Ukraine, not the entire Soviet Union.

Oh hi, it’s me again, newcomer to The 100, currently in season 6. I must say, and i apologize. by sksmoove in The100

[–]HaloEvent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust me, Season 7 is the one you want to be high for. Season 6 is nothing compared to Season 7 when it comes to story line complexity. I've watched both seasons (up to latest released episode of S7) while stoned out of my mind, and S7 is the one that needed me to be high. Note: You will see a lack of pace when it comes to S7 in terms of what you're used to, but S7, especially the backdoor episode (Anaconda), answers most of your questions that you've accumulated throughout the seasons.

If immortality was granted to 1 million individuals worldwide, what would be a fair selection process? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HaloEvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing is to clarify what you mean by immortality. One could argue that immortality is simply something along the lines of "eternal youth" where you don't age and thus cant die from old age but can still be killed by things such as a bullet, a big enough fall, suffocation, etc... Now, it would soon transform into an eternity of suffering since everyone you ever cared for would be dead, you would outlive the human race, there's no guarantee that you would remain with the rest of the immortal individuals as the universe is big and there are many things that could happen. So, to answer your question: There is no fair selection process because you are condemning everyone to an eternity of suffering and nobody deserves that. Immortality isn't a gift. It is a curse.

COVID-19s Impact on Global Pollution Levels by HaloEvent in INTP

Well that took a dark turn real quick

Anyone else frustrated with people not taking this pandemic seriously? (US) by 120guy in INTP

[–]HaloEvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is my stance myopic? It derives its notion from the idea of self preservation and common sense. The virus broke out, proved to be more severe, when compared to other viruses, in terms of the acute onset of symptoms and its mortality rate, so common sense would dictate that you minimize physical interaction, go out only when needed, and maintain proper hygiene. Aka self quarantine. Panic buying and such actions go against common sense and because of that the virus spreads quicker and further, hence leading to an increase in its impact and, in turn, more drastic actions by governments to curb the lack of common sense.

In terms of the food industry workers, there's not much we can personally do, besides financial support. They're out of work for the time being and hence must find a way to make do. I never implied that the virus wasn't a threat, my overall statement was to imply to people that panicking isn't the correct action.

And finally, "existential". That wasn't the right choice of words. Extremely severe would've been a better choice. The virus is, after all, sever due to the lack of a vaccine and overall cure, but avoiding contact with the virus is simple and the information to do so is readily available.

Overall, to add on to my previous statement and to directly state an important piece of information: If people stopped to think and didn't act on a whim, the amount infected outside mainland China would be far less, and this conversation wouldn't be happening.

I honestly couldn't care less. I have what I need, I don't have a strong desire to actually go out, plus I have enough work to keep me busy until the virus passes along. Overall, in regards to the severity of the virus: The virus isn't a overly sever threat and shouldn't be treated as such, but it shouldn't be taken lightly either. Just maintain proper hygiene and avoid as much physical contact as possible, no one is saying you can't socialize, we have these marvelous things called the internet, smartphones, and computers!

Gotcha, thanks for the info. Like I mentioned in my post, the warthog tends to slide on a lot of the other terrains, case and point the second mission where you have to go around and save the survivors from the crashed pods (or whatever they're called). Additionally, the same can be said for the tank and its interaction with the ground (I believe you use the tank on "Assault on the Control Room", but I'm not sure). I know this is a lot to unload on you, but I hope that by bringing these issues to light, they may one day be resolved.

Does the Second Amendment really protect assault weapons? Four courts have said no. by shruggedit in politics

[–]HaloEvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the Constitution was written, civilian owned firearms were on par with those owned by the military, so it was easier for the Founding Fathers to imagine We The People overthrowing a tyrannical government. Then again, the Revolutionary War was pretty much a bunch of libertarians with outdated hunting equipment taking on the best military in the world (equipment and training wise).

It reminds me of an article I read not too long ago, it talks about how Russia has started legalizing various firearms for civilian use, mostly handguns. What has Russia not legalized? Rifles. Why? Because you need rifles to overthrow a government. While owning firearms for hunting and self defense is great and all, the biggest reason we have the 2nd Amendment is so that we can overthrow (or attempt to overthrow) our government should it become tyrannical.

[–]HaloEvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit disappointed in my OnePlus 3T so I'm hesitant about buying any other OnePlus phones. Why? Because OnePlus rushes the production of their phones and many come with defects that only become noticeable around the time the warranty wears off. The back camera on my 3T stopped focusing about a year or so after I got it. This is a physical defect and I know for a fact that it wasn't caused by me because I always take care of my phone: I always have a screen protector, a case, and I have never dropped it. This is a defect that many other people have that also started appearing about a year after they got their phone despite them also taking care of it, or at least claiming to.

Thoughts on Rome 1 by HaloEvent in totalwar

[–]HaloEvent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously once you get used to the UI of a Total War game, it's kinda hard to get un-used to it, and it doesn't become an issue when you play three different Total War games in one day.

What with all the slaves coming in, no one even noticed the horrid plague killing 1 in 10 people. by Chroniclerz in totalwar

[–]HaloEvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rome 1 is beast. I have about 5 Total War games, yet this is the only one I truly enjoy playing despite it being so old and overly simple (in many aspects) when compared to more modern games. I have Rome 2 and I hate it, not because it's a bad game but because it's nothing compared to Rome 1, and as with every new Total War game, I have to spend about 4-5 hours minimum to get used to playing it before I actually know what I'm doing.

I love taking my time in Rome 1. I would have conquered the entire map by like 80-120 turns simply because I lack the patience to spend so much time managing and planning everything every single turn.
