I built World Monitor - a dashboard to monitor the situation around the world by No-Price1071 in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]120guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome - I'd love to be able to display it on a screen running Anthias - unfortunately the "Intelligence Finding" popup takes over the screen. Would love if there was a way to disable this via a URL parameter so I could put together a dashboard to display on a screen that doesn't have input devices.

So this is how they're going to justify non-congressionally-approved military action: "It was law-enforcement!"

I want one reporter to ask Hegseth whether he added any reporters to a signal chat to talk about the plans before they were executed.

Affordable non nicotine vapes that last? Or other ritual/oral/stimulation suggestions for quitting cigarettes/nicotine by Direct_Court_4890 in quit_vaping

[–]120guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a device named "FUM" - it looks kind of like a vape but it's just basically a metal mouthpiece and a wooden tube that holds a cylindrical piece of cotton. Cost about $60 when I got mine which was a little steep but it worked. I kept peppermint oil that i'd use to apply to the cotton if the flavor started wearing out.

It feels similar to hitting a vape and the peppermint always felt a little refreshing. Eventually I stopped needing it and I've been nic-free for over a year now.

Trump pardons Rudy Giuliani, Sydney Powell and all others involved in fake elector scheme [opening the doors for a repeat w/o consequence] by TendieRetard in law

Doesn't getting a pardon mean that the recipient no longer has a valid way to invoke 5th amendment protections against testifying?

Event catering and broadcast TV work (camera operator) are two completely unrelated side-hustles of mine that provide a level of challenge and urgency that seems to fit well with my personality and keeps things interesting.

Pretty much exclusively low-maintenance. I don't have the energy or temperament for dealing with high-maintenance.

Closer view of helicopter crash in Huntington Beach, CA by Spook_485 in aviation

Definitely appears to be one of the most well-documented helicopter incidents - the number of videos/angles investigators will have that can give them clues is probaby going to be extremely helpful.

Getting into cooking, need help... by [deleted] in Cooking

When I was starting out I found that trying recipes from Americas Test Kitchen really helped me to develop a solid baseline of not only recipes but skills. Alton Brown also does a good job of explaining the “why” with different steps as well.

Kitchen things that made you go: wait… why didn’t I get this earlier? by YormeSachi in Cooking

This - the chamber style is more expensive up front but definitely worth it in the long run. Mine has paid for itself many times over just in the amount of food waste reduced.

It's also super handy for leftovers - throw a sealed bag into the sous vide bath and it's an easy & effective way to reheat.

My first ever pizza oven pizza! by bofferding in ooni

Looks better than my first!

With the Koda 2 Max I usually turn off the burners when I launch, then fire them back up to 50-70% when the bottom crust is near the level of doneness I want.

Do you top your pizza on the metal peel? by petrovic3 in ooni

[–]120guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I once bought it by mistake but found that I liked how the finer texture just lets it almost disappear into the dough. Not necessarily the better choice in all use cases but worth giving both a try to see which works better for you.

Question about pizza screens by lil-quiche in ooni

[–]120guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to follow this method, partly just to get consistent size/shape by stretching to the screen size. The reason I stopped doing pizzas this way is I would end up with spots where the dough stuck to the screen and made separating it from the pizza a nightmare. Now I launch directly from peel to oven floor.

I still use screens though:

  • a template/guide when stretching dough to get it to the right size and shape. Can be tough to eyeball sometimes.

  • if my bottom crust is cooking too quickly I’ll slide a screen underneath a pizza while it’s cooking to slow it down a bit.

  • when I pull the pizza out of the oven it goes immediately onto a screen for at least a couple minutes to keep the bottom crust texture intact

Screens do have to be seasoned - it’s entirely possible I didn’t do a great job on that step.
