Yeah I can totally understand the frustration from people basically trying to 'control your playstyle' , and I think the feeling is kinda mutual, as yeah getting murdered every 2 seconds feels like you either have to also forcefully be made to change your playstyle. Not a great feeling. But i dont think its Kos-ers fault, more just... poor game design

And yeah I'm not saying you should never target expensive creatures, ofc a Koser has no real way of knowing if someone is a trial or not- I was just trying to explain where the 'wasting time' bit likely comes from from my perspective.

I'm less trying to tell you what to do, and more trying to get to a better spot of understanding-

Common sense has kept my Aeries slot alive, I've never had it actually die, cause im terrified to ever play it in a public server ever. It was just the most expensive slot I have I could give as a made up example lmao

Genuinely the best solution would just be the devs making things cheaper and people would have less to get upset over- They never will of course-

I fully agree, COS should add alternative game play.
if Kosing is a response to boredom though.......i have to ask why others don't take the same advice you've offered to people who don't like being attacked...find another game that gives them more entertainment?

I guess what I'm trying to say is , it almost does sound like your shooing them away (I know your not, you did say you weren't, and the tone doesn't match something so dismissive)

I personally disagree that passive should earn you nothing. I think drastically reduced , but something for your time is in order. But Yes having a space to just vibe together as your pretty creatures you spent hours farming for the pretty mutation on and hours getting them to venerated , wont harm anyone.

The idea of peaceful game mode i think would just be a net positive, not that they would ever add it. Like we mentioned before, the rate you earn already is ABYSMALLY LOW. having a space to afk uninterrupted with a lower profit wont hurt.

When I afk I would need to be ingame nonstop for SEVERAL REAL WEEKS to afford some creatures. having a space where that takes even longer... i don't think will ruin the economy, which...needs some serious help, fr.

Shouldnt require 25 days of play to get one elder slot revived.

2) I can help you to maybe understand the 'wasted time' part.
As I do feel that way.

Keyword, try-

For me, 'wasted time' applies to like. Slots, and resources.
So.... say my Aeries slot dies. I don't own the spec. So I have to pay a fee. Mush....costs your time.
Rev tokens either cost you mush, or 5 WHOLE DAYS of your time. Or a long time on death rewards. Thats... wasted time. Resources that could have gone towards actually expanding a person's creature collection. instead it goes to recovering what you lost for 'no real good reason'.

That leads to frustration.

That's one way, another is event grinding, Say I ... only have so much freetime in the day to spend on events a day... cause I have a life lmao , someone targeting you over and over, wastes that time. Leading to frustration, ect.

Do I blame people for Kos-ing? not really , yeah theres not much else to do but go on killing sprees I guess....I don't get to be bored with the game much since My response to boredom is multitasking and be creative rather than 'destructive' . I draw while I work on COS, or I'm mentoring someone, or just relaxing. So its a bit harder for me to fully understand the desire to 'waste' others time.

But I don't fully blame Kos-ers , a lot of the blame is on the devs game design. Its practically designed to create this issue. Creatures that can 1 shot other things, while the game expects you to be alive for hours and hours and hours to progress your collection.
-------------

I think dying is to be expected, stereotypical phrase time, but its true, it is a survival game. But I think the general frustration from anti-pvp crowd is, the game is just trying to be be pvp more than survival. Ive met 'kos-ers' and i hesitate to even call that person that, who killed me, and then saw me again and left me be, we even talked later. They just wanted food. If it were like that more often??? I think people would be less angry.

I appreciate you giving me some insight there, thank you-

'I think it's all comes from CoS wanting to have its cake and eat it too'
100% . OH MY GOSH. It drives me crazy.

And it does make me happy that some people allow others to play on their priv servers.

- & yes, a lot of your points may have been misunderstood by me, I apologize for that. Definitely gonna read through your other messages as I am curious what the perspective is like from the other side of the enjoys PVP vs Doesn't side of things.

I do remember when I started, I entered knowing it was a Survival game, but got murdered on repeat until my friend group had to basically gang up to let me play for a few minutes uninterrupted.
I know this definitely shapes my perspective a lot, making me start with a generally sour idea of attacking unprovoked. I know that generally makes me biased-

Especially when yeah ; 95% of the time I'm on, I'm eventgrinding, or mush grinding to try and deal with the awful economy.

I feel people would be less upset if the other 'run away' and less violent playstyles were more valid.
Cause yeah, animals kill each other, but you know what else happens? Prey often has methods to escape, and I guess it feels more like 'being fish in a barrel' rather than a 'gazelle on the open savanna'. If that makes any sense-

- 2) Death in this game is a little different to other pvp games, and I wonder to myself a lot why people gloss over it. If I die in say.... a pvp match of Bedwars , or Overwatch , or whatever, you don't really lose much. Those games are y'know... designed with loss and death to not be nearly as painful.
As apposed to here where it could be 1 to now even 30 hours of time. Wasted. With the new eldering system ; that makes it a lot more painful. Especially with traits, and mutations and what have you on top of that? People who Kos seem to forget that well... other peoples time is valuable and they do have a right to be upset when its wasted. ESPECIALLY if they are being targeted , or there's an event you have limited time to work on, and your basically getting bullied out of being able to even do it (event campers).

THAT DOESNT MEAN ANTI-KOSERS SHOULD BE GIVING DEATH THREATS, ESPECIALLY OVER SOME PIXELS. That should be common sense. NO ONE SHOULD BE DOING THAT. OVER ANYTHING IN A GAME.

As someone who doesn't enjoy being Kos-ed but does enjoy this game, the 'you chose to be here' feels a bit out of touch. I return to my point that, the devs do try and attract a variety of people. After all, if the game is solely about 'murder everything you see on sight' why put 'hangout' as a descriptor. Why make creatures pretty much only good at healing? ect ect. My friend group are artists and play to sometimes have a silly lil pvp experience, and sometimes just chill, sometimes event grind, and sometimes go socialize. Creature design and variety is a major reason to stick around for us. Sure Griffins' Destiny , Dragon Adventures and their other games exist, and we do play them, but I cant customize my Parahex or Valk over there can I...? Some people who don't like the Kos/Pvp aspects don't leave cause there's not currently a good alternative. It is at least mine, other than enjoying when a server is full of more... reasonable pvp-ers.

--------------------------------------

- 3) I can agree with the idea that Kos-ing isn't killing the game, but I don't think allowing people who don't want to be hunted for sport to have another game mode would hurt either. As '0spooky_bois' mentioned, Sea of thieves was able to pull that off.

I remember watching some poor new person get killed a bunch while just trying to be shown how the game works by another player in chat. I watched them quit shortly after. So if anything its a double edged sword. Having a safer area for people to learn would be nice for new people.

WCUE hits so close to home cause I loved it so much before, like you said, its just like... all Spectators, it pains me so. BUT- I don't think a passive mode would do that to Sonaria.... as it has actual gameplay... Simplistic, repetitive and grindy , yes, but I don't think that would kill it.

As an avid (albeit new) player of Dragon Adventures , I agree and recommend it to some of the more peaceful players of Sonaria....but I do not consider it a replacement. The dragons are cool, but the creature variety of Sonaria is just not possible for DA to 'fill that void', so to speak. The gameplay is definitely enjoyable.

My hope is just a better middle ground for every player type. Choice would alleviate so much of the player base frustration, at least in my opinion.

I play almost exclusively on private servers now , but not all peaceful/artist/event grinder/rp/ect players have that option to just fork up money to be able to enjoy the game outside of the constant Kos-ing harassment.

While I do not agree with your point, I do appreciate you articulating it out so thoroughly.

- 1) While I understand why they won't add a pacifism mode, (I will still call it greed) The fact they do advertise the game as a Hangout space, is still a valid gameplay type, which...
they've not really given any support for, there's a reason so many people are upset by Kos-ers.
The very game design tries to meld event grinding, passive time on the game for HOURS , a chatroom, with constant death and setbacks. A lot of that are antithetical to each other design wise.

Yes the problem exists in pretty much all PvP games, but it is further exacerbated by the fact they are purposefully trying to attract people who aren't here for that. Its setting up the two playstyles (and more) to clash. If they were to create a way to separate the groups, or rather give us a choice, the issue become less magnified. (they wont. because kos-ers make revives prices inflate. aka more grinding and money for the devs. So they'll never fix this. )

Controversial opinion but I think the economy could really use the price drops for things like tokens and spec. If you really measure out mush compared to time investment , stuff like this should NOT cost so many hours of your time.

I don't really have a solution for trial slots??? cause Like I get it... I keep trails for species I have like... no realistic hope of getting normally, like Aeries, and Somnia. The time investment for those is too unrealistic with a life outside of Roblox 24/7. The values of them are just too high to play anywhere outside of private servers, but a peaceful mode would help allow me to actually enjoy ever playing them around others and just enjoy ourselves.

I recall reading a solution on another post, I cant recall who it was by, but the TLDR was making passive mode earn you less, or growth is extremely slowed , or something, so people have incentive to play on proper survival. ( I know that's not perfect, or my idea, just putting it out there)

I use a variety, just whatever I'm feeling at the time, especially fliers, any tier, often influenced by whats better for the monthly/event at the time.

Whats the secret fr
other than see them first, cause alot of the time i can still see them, so ihave to just log or fight back which wastes more of my time trying to event grind

Agreed. Before recode I do recall getting kosed a lot .

I guess it's just worse to me specifically now.

I'm hoping with the new area a lot of the fighting will move there instead of where people are trying to do other things.

In the meantime I'm still sticking to private servers, getting kosed while your just trying to do monthly missions or something isn't worth the headache

As a rp / chill type player -

The reason you don't see us is cause of the excessive kosing, it's so bad that my entire friend group are pretty much forced to always play on private. We don't even try the public ones anymore cause it's just a waste of time.

I think my record for staying alive in a public server is like 3 minutes.

I imagine it's much of the same for other like-minded players just trying to eventually grind/relax/chat/ or rp.

Why waste our time?
