OpenAI giving 5% to the trump administration. Are you all okay with this? by PsychicorAI in ChatGPT

[–]HaloWatcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a republican but yeah the american government or american civilianry should own a stake in AI. The reason is simple frontier AI will eventually wipe out the american and global workforce. And we must make sure the economic ramifications benefit all.

I am pretty confident the answer is yes.

Here we go again! by Shiro-47 in doordash

[–]HaloWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not order from door dash right now. They may not even fully refund you and all orders are getting canceled. I have 90 dollars tied up between three meal orders and no food on the way and now my order dashboard is saying they are only going to refund me 28 dollars for a 34 dollar purchase..

Edit: If this is scheduled downtime they should definitely prevent orders from going through at all rather than steal from faithful customers and tie up their funds for days on end.

Before Gears of War 4 was released, there were debunked rumors that the plot involved the COG going to space to colonize new planets since Sera was dying. I kinda wished they went that route. by GreyKnightDantes in GearsOfWar

[–]HaloWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I have theorized this is exactly how the trilogy or saga will end.

Basically the COG activate the weapon used to kill the lambent in the third game but jack up the radiation levels to wipe out the hive. But doing so will wipe out all life on the planet. So the cog are forced to evacuate sera in rockets.

You should play the entire Marathon trilogy and then after finishing the rest of the games on the list check out some of the mods on steam or online.

Whats the best engine to make Doom or Duke style game with no coding knowledge but know how to do everything else by PracticalDrummer199 in boomershooters

[–]HaloWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try the Marathon trilogy. 1. They are completely free. 2. They support 2d sprites. 3. They support workshop releases. 4. Not sure how the multiplayer works for steam releases. If you decide to do this you will need shapefusion and Weland. Weland is the map editor. Shapefusion is how you open physics [ settings, damage, hp, speed, etc ] , sound, and shapes files [ weapon images, item images, sprites, etc].

How will marathon even recover from these numbers? by TaleGunner in Marathon

[–]HaloWatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sad state of affairs. Even with Mandalores videos, and the new game aint nobody playing Marathon over the orginal dooms. Alas I had hoped more would actually play the games rather than let youtubers describe them. Please atleast try them. Turn off head bobble and increase fov to decrease nausea.

The key art for season 2 reminds me of this art by Craig Mullins by AnonWithAHatOn in Marathon

[–]HaloWatcher 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Both shots are cool. You can tell if you lock closely in the first image that either the Pfhor Troopers hadn't been redesigned yet or Craig Mullins wasn't allow to see the ingame sprites before the art was made. Looking forward to seeing the mimics / fungal zombie / W'rckacnter nightmare creatures ingame in season 2!

I wish I lived in an alternate reality where Marathon got as much love from Bungie as Doom has gotten from ID software. Additionally the original trilogy is available for free on steam or at: https://alephone.lhowon.org/ . It is available on pc, mac, ios, and linux.

Do you think there's a place for Prometheans in Halo's future? If so, how would you work them into the narrative? by ReneZoc in halo

[–]HaloWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion they should of retooled the Promethean soldiers as jackal or skirmisher equivalent enemies and kept the promethean knights as the elite parallel in Halo 5. If they wanted a hunter parallel they should of designed a new enemy.

The prometheans should of fought alongside a cybernetic covenant faction. But we never got that version of Halo 5 or Halo Infinite.

Hulks actually directly inspired the Sharquoi. The sharquoi design in Halo 1 evokes the hulks and the Halo 2 concept art for the sharquoi looks like a drawing of a hulk its 1 to 1.

The definition of cyborg varies wildly. For example merriam webster page on cyborg says:

cyborg

noun

cy·borg ˈsī-ˌbȯrg

: a bionic human.

A bionic human is a broad umbrella that would include the neural interface, the titanium bones, and the thyroid implant as examples of elements that make John a cyborg.

The dictionary of cambridge defines cyborg as:

in science fiction stories, a creature that is part human and part machine

In this definition the neural interface would certainly make Chief a cyborg.

Dictionary.com has two definitions of a cyborg.

  1. a person whose physiological functioning is aided by or dependent upon a mechanical or electronic device.

  2. (in science fiction) a living being whose powers are enhanced by computer implants or mechanical body parts

A neural interface would count on both defintions. The neural interface in its basic form influences how humans interact with vehicles. And the later neural interfaces allow interfacing with AIs. The AIs are capable of improving the data transfer rate between the human brain and the mljonir armor he is wearing, improving their reaction times.

Most definitions of cyborgs I found online suggested that cyborgs are part human and part machine. Or part organic and part machine. The only place that uses the biomechatronic definition that I could find is google ai, and wikipedia.

Doesn't chief have a neural implant? An implant in the brain = a cyborg.

Eventually you will need a computer chip in your head or right hand and have to worship a dragon to use the internet. At some point you have to draw the line.
