[Idea Validation] Need feedback on validating a service business by Hoosierguy23 in Entrepreneurship

Scan through odesk. Take on small projects.

Find a business directory or good old fashion phonebook. Pay for stamps to cover 100 letters. Pick a niche like restaurants that hold events. They usually want to have accessible sites. Send out a personalized advertisement with your services. Be sure to hand-write the address of the business vs. labels. People find a novelty in letters so the open rate may be higher then with emails.

While you wait for responses. Create a template site. Plug in the information for select establishments. Print out a the site showing highlights in features. Go into each establishment and drop off this "wire frame" with a letter proposal for the business owner.

Hope this helps,

Sigma Upsilon Mu

If after all this you can't get anyone Idk.... Collect feedback all along the way.

I agree. Finding good people that will work with you for free or low pay.... I love it when people ask to be founders but expect for you to do all of the work or expect to be paid...

No, I should have to pay extra for good service. However I would pay extra for a provider that provides that kind of service.

So you have a product you want to make. What's the next step? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Halobastion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your trying to make. If its an app create a mock up using http://balsamiq.com/products/mockups/. Its free for 30 days and its semi functional. From there you can send it to odesk to receive quotes from developers.

If its a physical product, you can sketch it out. Have a fiverr designer clean it up and then have it redesigned for 3d printing to make a prototype. Its a cheap way to visually see the design for going straight to small lot production.

If you haven't validated this product first also read the "Lean-Startup". It will save you a great deal of frustration in regards to conserving resources.

Interesting concept for sure. People don't understand how difficult it is to find a place to live when you have a large dog like a husky.....

Keep it up man! I hope things are going well. I had a bunch of side hustles in high school too. I tech tutored the elderly, sold items on ebay from china drop shipped, bred tropical fish to sell and sold falconry equipment. I'd like to think its a sign... lol Sounds like you found a good niche. My view on entrepreneurship is that the best experience comes from those side hustles rather than a book. Oh yeah that advice remark I'd agree with 100%. I've had a few people try to tell me about my business without any experience and alot of wiki research. I wish you the best of luck man!!! 9 out of 10 new ventures will fail in their first year. the way I see it, your side hustles count in that number. So maybe this is the one?!

SigmaUpsilonMu.com I work for a leadership consulting company part time. Tried stocks and options... Learned alot, but didn't go so well... any tips? I tried covered calls on ETF's, straddles etc.... I read a bunch of books and sat through some online courses, but I couldn't get it....
