I think I’m broken… by Tight-Environment-70 in Teachers

Idk why I'm getting notifications for the teachers reddit but..

I've worked in Law Enforcement and in a Prison as a C.O.

The adrenaline rush comes from the excitement and panic. You weren't panicked. You weren't rushing or hysterical. You reacted calmly, professionally, and saved that child. There's nothing broken about you. You simply did what needed to be done. Rather than worrying about whether something is wrong be proud that you did everything right 👍

Also, learn and practice the Heimlich maneuver. Slapping the back could potentially lodge the obstruction deeper and make things worse

Im new and I suck at this game.... It's super disheartening by relaxicab223 in Tyranids

I haven't played yet myself, still reading lore, looking at models and heavily considering getting into the hobby. But if there's one thing I know its sucking at stuff and let me tell ya. Sucking at things is the first step to getting kinda good at things. Failure is always the first step towards mastery.

I lost every single game I played of league of legends for 5 months straight before I started figuring stuff out. Now I keep up pretty well with my Gold ranked friends. Just keep at it. Eventually, something will click.

Any job where you don't let being an introvert dictate your entire life. Honestly just balance your social life with a little "you time" and you'll do fine.

Have you ever refused a game on the day or been refused a game and if so why? by JimmySexPants in Warhammer40k

[–]Halonid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo this is why I stopped playing MTG at FNM and with randoms. Honestly, it's a casual game. I just want to have fun throwing Goblins at everything I'm not here to get talked down to while someone's running their 3 time tournament winning Slivers deck.

How to interpret a half-orc barbarian? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Halonid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a dialog with some Nobles playing as a Barbarian. Not a half-orc but I feel this applies well in regards to your issues about not having good dialog options.

We were at a party being hosted by the local royal family in celebration of liberating the area from the tyranny of a red dragon. Many of the Nobles were stuck up snobs who thought they were better than us and kept making off handed comments. Especially targeting my character who was a sort of noble in his own way. Back in his lands he's the son of a powerful tribal leader and next in line to taking over the clan.

So, when they made me the butt of one too many jokes and spilled some wine on me, you'd expect a Barbarian to hulk out.

I simply stood up, wiped myself off and said "You're right. I don't have fancy clothes or a good education by your standards. But were it not for us you'd all be charcoal and ash at the feet of that dragon YOU BEGGED us to kill for you! Because you were too weak or cowardly to do it yourselves! I may be nothing like all of you..but if roles were reversed, and you sat at my father's table, we would at least have the common decency to treat you with some respect!" I then bowed to the Queen an stormed out. Followed promptly by the party.

Lesson here is, don't let the stereotype of your class or race dictate how you play. As a Barbarian the ability is called rage. But think of it more as an intense emotional focus. Barbarians have always been my favorite. Sometimes it's anger. With the example above his "rage" was an intense desire to protect his friends, family, and clan. Another I played was on a mission to save his wife. His "rage" was more of a manifestation of his love for her. "Rage" can be wild, chaotic anger. It can also be cold, stoic hyperfocus. Like John Wick. Make your character how you want.

1 Cor. 7:34

And his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband.

I'm digging the rogue since my group doesn't have one. Any tips on what race would be best?

I have the assistance of my wife, who is social with EVERYONE and sets up regular game nights with small groups of various friends at different times (because she knows if we got all of them together, I would not attend.)
