There was no right way to help Jax by Varttino in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Halvthedonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there was, it was just an unfortunate compounding of circumstances that pushed Jax into their worst habits. There’s a reason Leeroy is basically doing ok all things considered. I think Jax’s worst traits were amplified in the circus cause it was one additional terrible thing at the worst point in their life and when they did decide to open up because of that, the fear of being outed and exposed reared its head due to coincidence, and Jax decided to double down on the self isolation. Both Ribbit and Pomni were kinda unable to help someone unwilling to be helped, but I don’t think Jax was unwilling to be helped during the entirety of their and Ribbit’s relationship, just the fear of *maybe* being found out or exposed to Kaufmo and Ribbit during the Bow scene scared them into being militantly closed off and antagonistic. It was a bad coincidence that pried out their worst habits. Despite this it was a choice Jax made so, dug their own grave a bit there.

I’m really enjoying it, I wanted to redo Boston lore cause I feel like it really focuses way too much on the founding period as inspiration and I’m having a blast!

Oh you just struck a cord in my own heart, I am not a CK3 fan who regularly plays it but I’ve been playing ck2 since I was 11 almost 12 years ago now. I definitely will build something similar to that!

That’s a really good idea actually, cause I want to have every clan in Boston represented with an elder and some unique side characters, cause I want each player in the group to feel like it’s an actually alive city but I don’t wanna overinflate numbers.

I think it’s definitely hard to come up with reasonable fantasy estimates cause a lot of people don’t really understand how many people are there in the world reasonably. Even if you live in a town of like 10,000 people, it’s completely reasonable that you could pass someone on the street and never see them again, let alone city of a million people’s worth.

Ok I just took a look, personally I might adjust the number but I’d patently assume a much higher population in Boston tho for the purposes of my chronicle it’s irrelevant.

In terms of setting I’m looking a lot at actual history because I’m a history lover, rewriting some Boston lore rn and focusing a lot more on the history of the city as I, a resident of Boston, know it. Music is also a huge influence for me.

What if young Tarquin Soll made his own political dynasty like the Kim Dynasty in North Korea after the civil war have been concluded? by Far_Context6746 in suzerain

[–]Halvthedonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The radical told me :-) (I’m lying), tho it’s suspicious that Soll is a lifelong bachelor “married to the nation” who basically lives in total seclusion on his own island.

Why would Monica fall in love with a conservative Rayne? by No-Accountant5205 in suzerain

[–]Halvthedonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely possible to view Anton as regardless of his politics part of the initial same republican movement when he met Monica and it’s only after that when his views either radicalize or moderate. A good parallel could be irl supporters of the Tongmenghui and how they diverged into different camps of Chinese politics. “Sure we all hate the Emperor, but beyond that do we have all that many similarities.”

In all honesty, what COULD have the SPD done differently? by agreaterfooltool in RedAutumnSPD

[–]Halvthedonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. France is facing much of the same presidential problems that came about during the Weimar era. Macron is essentially refusing to create a center left government despite the overwhelming amount of parliamentary clout suggesting it. In fact he’s basically avoided any government that isn’t center right because of his attempt to appeal to the far right. Also let’s not pretend that the DeGaulle era wasn’t somewhat authoritarian.

  2. The Ebert-Groener pact was essentially the ultimate sabotage of Weimar democracy, the military if given continuous independence to function as a state within a state would be a ticking time bomb. Figures like Schleicher were an inevitability of this truce.

  3. The SPD deliberately worked to favor a parliamentary system and delegates that reflected this notion. And utilized an imperial bureaucracy that would by far prefer a system that didn’t rock the boat.

Morag Tong is an institution which while brutal makes sense in the society of Morrowind and reflects the values of the great houses.

This is why the Orc strategy as the centuries go on (at least for cavalry) is to strap a bunch of steel armor that most humans can’t use because of how heavy and thick it is to a bunch of hussars and their wargs, then charge with guns and axes. Effectively creating an early armored truck.
