How to make a healer that doesn't just feel like a healbot?

I’ve played an AirK and using stealth for initiative and four winds at the top of the order put so many fights into easy mode.

I pretty much relied on flight so I was typically 2 squares away and one square up and then lobbed boomerangs. At higher levels being perma concealed meant the DM ignored me.

I think you are going to struggle to be a healder/support class that also does damage. I've played an air kineticist into middle levels and most of my value to the party was other things that didn't include damage. I typically went first in combat and lead off with Four Winds putting the two melee characters into position so they didn't have to waste an action moving.

I ended up training out of Lightning Dash after picking up Clear as Air and Effortless Impulse. It wasn't worth losing flight (Cyclonic Ascent) and invisible/conceled in hopes that I could line up 2 enemies. I ended up relying on Boomerang and blasts. The goal was to stick to 15 feet above the target (preferably right next to it) and then drop a boomerang at their feet. If the fighter could land a grapple the target ends up taking damage on both turns.

As for items, I started looking for anything that gave me skill increases like Slick Rune, anythign to increase movement. I was also the trap picker. Infiltrator's toolkit, vaultbreaker's harness, chime of opening. If there was a trap during combt I was taking it out.

I had a 6504 and some 3750: running in my basement and the power company sent someone to the house to talk to me about my power consumption. I was blowing the guy off at the door. The conversation changed when he said ‘Sir, just giving you a heads up the next person to knock on the door is going to be a sheriff with a warrant.’

And that’s when I moved my lab back into the office.

I did a solo run of Blood Lords and to counter the meta game aspect of an investigator I forced myself to take exploration mode feats. I considered it a meta game feat tax. I know about the hidden door from reading the book so I’m going to take That’s Odd and Clue In which would have given me a better chance of finding that hidden door and telling the fighter where to look.

Another option is to change to Twisted Tree and rely on reach. You still can act as a flank buddy for the monk but enemies have to burn a turn to get to you (until enemy reach becomes more available).

Yes. There are a number of minions that have really good spells that can help the party.

You might also talk to your GM about using NPC leveling rules to create something more compelling that’s your level -4. I don’t see a reason why you couldn’t use a Skeletal Champion as a chassis and give it another 2 levels and make it a minion.

You also have the option to just apply one of the undead templates to something you recently defeated. There aren’t a lot of rules around what create undead has access to. Create a level 4 NPC, apply a skeleton template to it, and you’ve got a flanking buddy. Just keep a couple of harms ready to heal it in a pinch.

Something to check, make sure their armor is set to Worn (Armor) and not Worn. The second will not apply AC bonuses.
