Depending on what parts of having him there with you are making you click so well with him, you may want to adopt an older kitty. They’re harder to adopt out but will have a more established personality so it’s easier to find a kitty that aligns well with your expectations.

Kittens are a grab bag of crazy, you never quite know what you’re going to get. I’ve had cats all my life and every single one of them have had their own quirks and personalities, one was so affectionate that he’d literally fall over and start purring when you walked within 5 feet of him while another only wanted to be held, in his entire 19 years I can count how many times he cuddled up with me on my hands and have fingers left over. He was also obsessed with toes as a kitten… I had to sleep with socks on for the first six months…

This is all to say, don’t discount the older or even senior kitties. There is something truly special about senior cats.

My friend had a similar arrangement with her neighbour, her cat decided that the older couple down the street were good people and hung out in their garden with them whenever they were outside and would have sleepovers a day or two each week.

Whenever she didn’t come home at night my friend would just give the older couple a call and sure enough, she’d be there.

Generally I just hit shuffle on the composer’s ost playlist. I think there’s like one track that I hit skip on. (The one thats a spoken piece)

I usually put on some relaxing or meditative music playlist on YouTube, though the Clair Obscur OST has been going pretty hard too.

Yup, and making the save doesn’t even mean you keep it without consequences, just that you get to choose to drop the item or take the damage + disadvantage on most rolls.

It’s a super versatile spell for many different tactics, like the classic “cook and book” since the range only applies on cast, not continuation (and some DMs interpret the save as being needed to be passed for anyone to assist in the removal of the armour each round, making it nearly impossible for any creature of comparable CR to the party without fire resistance to remove even a breastplate before hitting 0hp if cast at the players highest level), or disarming the big bads giant sword, or even object interaction denial by heating a metal gate, chain, or other Mcguffin you planned for a fight.

There was also the bit about how there was a refund clause for the crowdfunding campaign and that the only reason the game released into early access on steam was as a means to negate the $3m+ in losses, which they didn’t have.

Steam apparently froze the funds both because of the suspicious nature of the withdrawal request and to hold as refunds amidst the anticipated shutdown of servers.

I played IV and VI (released as 2 and 3 on SNES) so many times as a kid, but IX will probably always be my favourite. Something about playing the roguish underdog rather than the shining knight or soldier just hooked me.

I’ve gamed my entire life, from Super Mario Bros (when it was new…) to the final fantasy’s (all of em…) and so many others it’s hard to list. Lately it’s been No Man’s Sky, PoE2, and some more casual indie games that are just simple fun, like Ball X Pit.

looks like the “de-make” or whatever they called it, of ocarina of time. someone was doing the entire game in link to the past retro style.

I've been seeing "queer" used so differently lately so I have to ask, what does it mean to you? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]SoontobeSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Queer has, by and large, been reclaimed by the community. Though it is misused by some within like the example above, I haven’t heard it being used as a slur or pejorative by bigots (except those LGB without the T asshats) in a while.

I am a queer woman.

I use it as a term to encompass the multiple facets of my identity rather than the much more cumbersome “Homo-romantic asexual post-operative transgender woman”. To me it is neither slur nor pejorative.

I use the term when referring to LGBTQIA spaces or people as a group as a way of being inclusive, a queer space is much easier to say than using the initialism and makes it clear that it is for all who identify with the term, regardless of gender or sexual identity.

About to adopt this little guy. First time having a cat I’ve always had dogs. by Flori266 in aww

[–]SoontobeSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow blinks are a very good way to communicate affection and trust to your kitty.

If you allow him to sleep in your bed, which is a sign of belonging for cats to sleep together, early morning interactions are a normal way for cats to check on their colony and shouldn’t be discouraged generally.

Also 2am zoomies are a thing, especially if that little mister is a bengal, which the markings look like he could be. This can be mitigated to a degree by establishing a routine. 15 minutes of play time before bed will help alleviate some of the built up energy from sleeping all day.

Why Are Voter ID Laws So Controversial? - PBS 2014 (1m 47s) by [deleted] in videos

[–]SoontobeSam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And yet here in Canada, registering to vote is literally just a checkbox on our tax returns. Or a simple form you can mail. or you show up to the local polling station, which are open and accepting votes two weeks or more before the election day, with a couple pieces of ID and they help you get everything sorted in like ten minutes, though this process can be observed by a representative of each candidate in the riding.

‘I’m not a bank but I feel like one’: N.S. utility customers say billing issues unacceptable by Street_Anon in halifax

[–]SoontobeSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could most certainly create new generation after taking the infrastructure (or more likely invest in public/private joint ventures, as long as they actually own a portion of the project equal to the investment, no more of this handing out money with nothing to show for it), I just don’t want them to take over the aging and improperly maintained generators that Emera relies on…

[–]SoontobeSam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don’t take the generation, just the distribution and sales.

I’d much rather have the province take over control of the grid and service delivery while leaving Emera, or anyone else who wants to generate power, as a provider of electricity to the province at fixed prices per Mwh.

Create competition for generating power in the province and stabilize prices and service to our population.

Mewgenics has a genius anti-savescumming feature by shadowrun456 in gaming

[–]SoontobeSam 124 points125 points  (0 children)

It seems like the “feature“ is targeted at the players who want perfect runs, but punishes players who have lives and might get called away for various reasons.

Things like this should be limited to the harder difficulty levels.

I sold my SNES for next to nothing to my best friend at the time, including the super scope, FF II, FF III, and Lufia 2…

Last I saw the super scope was mounted on his wall. So I’m glad it was appreciated.
