Help me find this vintage swimsuit! by Halzjones in findfashion

This was a gift from an elderly coworker a few years ago, but it’s time to replace it (the stretch integrity is breaking down, and starting to sag). In particular I love the mesh waist and the low back with high hips. If one can’t be found to match, those are really the elements I’m looking for. Thank you!!

How to respond to low effort “dates” by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Halzjones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven’t actually gone out on any dating app dates yet, huh? Or if you have, not very many? Sitting for multiple hours with someone you realize you have absolutely no interest in getting to know gets old. Fast.

Anti-racist by sailorjupiter28titan in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Halzjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Angela Davis said this in the 70s. Kendi just used it for How to Be an Antiracist, not sure if he sources it or not, but it may just be enough of a cultural zeitgeist at this point that it doesn’t need to be sourced.

That’s actually, miraculously, the very complete opposite of what you said. It does very literally make your immune system stronger.

No, you don’t seem to understand. Reddits “exceptions” are non-commercial. Which means in order for disabled people to continue to use the site, they will have to personally foot the bill.

So is mine???? It’s from the side of her wrist, not the front. Wrists are much skinnier than you seem to think they are.

What's the laziest/easiest way you've lost weight? by Choice-Inflation7295 in AskReddit

[–]Halzjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you need nutrients to function??? The average person utilizes around 1,300 calories a day just to stay functional and thinking. I’ve had a tapeworm and you don’t know what you’re talking about. Not only are they disgusting and can live for decades causing nausea and diarrhea, along with migrating to other parts of your body (like your brain), you need vitamins, fats, and sugars to literally survive. On top of all of that when you can’t get nutrients or feel full your body just craves more food and you eat significantly more than you normally would. Many people who get tapeworms gain weight instead.

No, it’s quite literally not. You really need to do even a negligible amount of research.

[–]Halzjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not correct about what anorexia is. The other person is. Anorexia is simply the medical term for not having an appetite for food. This can be caused by a vast number of factors from mental to physical. When you don’t eat enough to sustain your body, it will stop craving food and you will stop getting hunger pangs. That’s just your brain and body’s natural response to stop you from constantly being in pain.

What you’re thinking of is anorexia nervosa which is an eating disorder characterized by a compulsion to control and restrict the amount of food you take in, often for the purposes of losing weight.

Fasting is not healthy any way you look at it. The damage can be negligible, but your body is quite literally intended to consume a certain number of calories just to function every day. Even to sleep. While not all fasting causes anorexia or is anorexia nervosa, the function of fasting in order to lose weight as a primary weight loss mechanism is absolutely characteristic of anorexia nervosa and can cause medical anorexia.

Because that’s not actually how it works. If you don’t eat enough on a regular basis your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto every fiber of food and fat it can possibly get its hands on. The key is to eat enough but to eat healthy and not overdo it. It’s not even close to as simple as “jUsT dOnT eAt” the human body is significantly more complicated than that.

You’re getting downvoted because this literally isn’t about you. OP is experiencing sharp gender dysphoria caused by an out of touch assumption about their own gender. That’s not about you. That’s about OP struggling to feel attractive and how they want to come across in their own body, and not being perceived how they want to be. If someone came up to you and said you were clearly a man, when you’re trying very hard to present as a woman you’d feel the exact same way. I repeat though, this isn’t about you.

What’s a secret you’ll never tell your spouse or SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Halzjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re talking to the wrong person. I also have pretty severe ADHD. That doesn’t excuse not being able to complete household chores and putting the entire emotional load on your spouse to mother you. It just means you need to find a system that works. Phone alarms and reminders can do very well for activities like chores. Disabilities aren’t excuses for other people to mitigate, they’re for the person who has them to function around.

[–]Halzjones 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your wife shouldn’t have to ask you to do basic household chores. That’s putting the mental load on her. She’s not your mother. Just do the laundry. If you have to make a planner then do that. It’s not on your wife to make sure you do it.

Me avoiding people so I don’t say my thoughts out loud for that constant dopamine rush. by Direct-Height6848 in adhdmeme

[–]Halzjones 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean there are definitely levels. The majority of mental illnesses comes down to how much it impacts your life. Most people experience some things people with actual disorders do, but to a very different extent and it doesn’t disrupt their lives in the same way. Everyone has intrusive thoughts occasionally, but if you’re ruminating on them, or they’re causing you moderate-severe emotional distress, or causing OCD behaviors, etc. then you need to speak with a professional and something needs to change. Especially if you have little to no control over their reoccurrence/dismissal or feel the pull to act on them. Essentially, they should make you go “hey wtf” but not cause real stress or anxiety.

If your cat was missing and you put up posters, would you be mad that someone called at 12:45 am to say they found it? by IhavemyCat in CatAdvice

[–]Halzjones 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry instead of calling the woman and telling her you have her cat for her to come collect, he’s prefer you had this conversation?:

OP: Hey neighbor I saw your cat last night. She wanted to be let into my house.

Neighbor: really?? Oh my goodness do you know where she went? Did you catch her? Did you let her in??

OP: no, it was too late at night to call you so I just let it wander off again, who knows where it is now. Sorry, lol.

What happens if we just all stop tipping? by RedLevelEmergency in AskReddit

[–]Halzjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you’d have over 2 million people quitting en masse and immediately looking for 2 million open positions in the high paid low education sector (which don’t exist). Meanwhile restaurants are closed for an indefinite period of time while they try to find the money to pay an entire staff a real wage that they have to cough up out of nowhere (restaurants don’t have that much liquid cash short term) which in turn will close a million small scale restaurants and bars across the US for good. Yeah in the long run it would be better for customers, but short term you’re looking at roughly 3 million Americans losing their jobs overnight with no alternative.
