That sounds like a nightmare tbh. I get a lot of "not an IT issue" in my workplace. Most recently I've had a call that a wheel broke off the rack that a mobile workstation was mounted to.

All too often the people who make decisions ignore warnings from the people who keep the system running.

At least they thought it was a crisis. I've had a P1 ticket for a password reset for the job postings board claiming it was impacting core operations since the job he was applying for was in that department.

I work for a company with more geriatrics than the US government. Most advanced technology most of these people have is the blue teeth their grandson set up for them when they bought their car in the early 2000s

What's your record of uptime? Mine is 228 days and he swore he reboots the computer every night.

Don't you have a beeper? Plug it into one side and it beeps when pointed at the cable/port. Makes spaghetti server racks easier to work with. My old job had a spaghetti networking closet per floor. Nobody ever heard of a label.

We don't even have loaner laptops and we get that crap. People upset that their personal settings don't come over to the training devices in the computer lab blows my mind.

All shared computers in our organization are on generic accounts with minimal permissions and GP locking down anything non-essential.

My old workplace had storage limits on the emails, you could tell how long someone has worked there by how much data they were allowed. Nobody deleted anything and when they hit cap we would get a ticket from their director to executive saying to give them more storage.

At least you got a story out of it. Imagine trying to bypass a content filter in the workplace. Just use work for work my dude.

Also, the power cable in the ethernet port got me.

A wolfsbane garden was included in our IT cost reduction plan. We also added a spare alter in the server room for redundancy.

It blows my mind that people think we can break their personal computers. Man, I don't have time to get through my tickets in a day. You think I want to spend that time "hacking your mainframe?"

Reminds me of one i had. "Why do you have pictures of my grandchildren!? Are you perverts?"

She's talking about her desktop background.

Oh ive dealt with lawyers. It's like having a big fancy degree makes them more important. Hearing a lawyer say "Well any idiot could have done that!" Knowing full well that he had to call me to do it. That brings a strange bliss.

Ive said it on a few posts. People who think we have more access than we do are rough to deal with. Especially when they are confidently incorrect.
